i ride my 400ex at ocotillo and glamis and i was wondering what the best length for arms were? i plan on getting 450r shocks and i will prolly never have enough for elkas. im looking to get a little better ride and more stability on off camber trails. i also want to be able to take the whoops really good and i have read that +3 are no good for that. so +1 or +2?

I would look into a set of ricky stator a arms if you dont want to spend a lot of money. There is nothing wrong with going to +3 for desert. Also, try going through ebay, there is always good deals on used front ends. One more thing, if you dont have that much money, look into works shocks they are priced lower than any other suspension builder.

thanks for the info. ricky stator is right by me so i could prolly go there, i didnt even know he made arms. i read that +3 makes the bike too square, which isnt good for whoops.

I believe that the +3" Ricky Stator arms are also 1" forward so don't worry about bieng to square. I've ridden on them in the desert and they work well.

Remember though, If you put the wheels +1" forward, you will cause the front to push a bit more and more weight will be transmitted to the rear of the quad. Nothing too critical, just somthing you'll need to get used to in your riding style.

I've run Ricky Stator's a-arms before - for MX - and they were fine! Very sturdy! :)

if you don't have much money R shocks are good. But look around for some used front ends. Ebay, this site, and C@DRacing.
