Is anyone using a 450r carb on their 400ex. I have a full duncan 440 national kit with an eichner series carb. I have just never been able to make them work. I am thinking of going with an FCR (which I should have done since a long time ago) but 450r carbs are very easy to find and very low priced. Is anyone using them on their 400ex's. Thanks.

yea a lot of people are, im pretty sure it just takes some grinding in the boots, and the airbox might have to be moved forward for the boot to reach the carb, and you have to raise the cover under the gas tank upo a little.. someone on here put one on and dyno'd it and got a 3hp gain over the stock 400ex carb.

do a search you should get some results

im not so sure the 450r carbs are the hot setup, they could be better than a 400ex carb but the fcr would be ideal if you got the cash.the 400ex carb can be made to work real good imo.its hard to beat their ridability and ease of setup.pk hp gains are useless if they arent in the rpm range where you prefer to ride.;)

I run the 450r carb on my 502- works great. I had to soften the intake boot up to accept the larger carb. also, i had removed the hot start too.
