the Hot Cams are "drop in cams...." so no you do not need them. Like said, people do it just for the added protection. I ran stiffer valve springs in my 416 with the stage 2, but I run the stock ones in my 426 with the stage 2 also and have had 0 problems with either ones.

you wont need valve springs unless your motor will run at 11k rpm like the mx bikes which it wont:)

with an aftermarket ignition...my motor hits 10,200 which isn't to far behing 11. There are some ignitions out there that DO NOT have a limit....so you have to be careful, or you will hurt somthing;)

Stiffer springs will in turn push the rockers harder on the cam lobes and cause faster wearing.

Yeah, you don't really want stiffer valve springs unless you hard-face everything. You're already increasing lift and duration with the new cam, you don't want to add more tension on top of that. The plating that Honda uses on the rockers is very thin, and if it wears out, you can kiss the valve train good bye. I've had no problems so far; you just have to remember that it's a 4 stroke and shift once in a while.:D

Yes, you should be fine with just a CDI. Although, it won't hurt anything at all to put the Stage 2 cam in it either. Since it's a hotcam, like the others stated, it's a "drop-in" cam. You do not need anything to go along with it. Just put the cam in and go.
