400ex idles but doesnt rev

ok i put this 400 together from pieces, i put carb on from my other 400ex and now it only idles. will not run if i even touch throttle. Plug is as black as a mofo and all carboned. Im thinkin its running rich...it was jetted for hot cams stg 2 11-1 piston, Uni air filter no lide, HMF full exhaust,Port and polish and now it has kn filter no lid but stock motor and stock exhaust. Will be putting HMF slip on though. Does the same thing with no airboot and exhaust...

what's your jet size on the main and your needle clip position!!

try going back to factory jetting or atleast drop the jet size down alot....im runnings a 165 in my ex with a sparks pipe 440 big bore port and polished and hot cam .....when i just had a slip on i was running a 155... try a 150 or 155 mayb....hope this helps

what about pilot and clip setting? Im havin my dad go to parts store so i need to write everything down..

try a 155-160 main, and a 42 pilot. I think mine is on the 3rd clip but not sure.

the clip position is in 3 and the pilot should be 38 the main is 148 and the initial setting of the pilot screw is 2 1/4 turns out.

make sure the mainjet didn't fall out or the needle clip didn't break.

im running a open alum. air box and uni filter. stock carb, motor and exhaust and running a 165.

155 was too lean and quad got hot
