i think my timeing is out i had my engine bored and i've been hearing this ticking nosie and i can hear it even when the engine is reved high which is bad .... and it has mad this clunking nosie after it died when i was warming it up i was also thinking it could be that it was sitting for about 2 weeks and its been cold so maybe the oil is clumpy or something? i jus no this is bad and i was gonna go riding tomorrow and if the timing is out of place how much would that cost and would it hurt it real bad to ride one day on it?

i have my valves adjusted right to now

were is the noise comming from it might be your rockers is it like a ticking noise? do you have stock cam? when you said "and it has mad this clunking nosie after it died when i was warming it"
is the engine running when it makes the clunking noise?

you poor ba*tard, how the hell is yer 05 already been manhandled? i mean i thought i was hard on my wheeler, but DA*N. IM ACTUALY THINKING HONDAS ARE NOT AS RELIALABLE AS I ONCE THOUGHT THAT OR MAYBE JUST KIDS OWN HONDAS, WITH NO MONEY/TOOLS!!

hey im paying for it and i have quiet a few tools and it makes the clunking nosie as its dieing an dyou can hear the ticking noise when its reved at high rpms so thats what mad me thoiught the timing chain was loose and its been bored stock ccam still

i respect that your paying for the quad by yerseslf. oh, well i said that before i realized where i came from, little tools, liltle money, and a tote gote. well i wouldnt worry about the clunking noise, mine does that when its warming up, and i touch the throttle on half choke. after reading what you wrote about valves, i dont know how you got the feeler guages in there?? YOUR VALVES ARE TOO LOOSE STILL, BUT ALAS ALL 400 TICK!!

my valves are adjusted right the 005 wont fit in the intake and the 006 wont fit in the exhaust an dthe 004 fits fine in intake and the 005 fits fine in exhaust adjusted them at tdc also

Just curious, why did you need to bore the motor so soon?

its making a whineing noise when warmed up? like when you whistle and no sound comes out jus air? maybe this oculd help narrow down the problem

ok engine problem is fine i guess i rode for about 6 hours off and on today rode decent even beat a raptor on the track...


but i got another question is it possible for a clutch to be to tight and be slipping cuz my clucth perch is adjusted all the way out and it is still sliping an di don't wanna adjust down by the case cuz its already harder than ne clucth i've ever pulled in my life i like it kinda stiff but its past that point

If your valves are adjusted correctly then it's your timing chain. Step up to a 4/5 row timing chain and that should solve your problem. Also, here at the shop we adjust the valves to .003 on both intake and exhaust side. I am also in the same boat you are with the clutch. I took my case apart and measured the fibers at Vocational School and my fibers are shot. Time for the Curtis Sparks 8 Plate Kit I guess... Buddy of mine bought one. I installed it for him and it's a great kit. No problems out of it yet.. Figure I'd give it a shot.
