i just gave my quad a good one over, do u actually have to take off the shift lever to get the sprocket guard off?

are you speaking of the plastic cover or the case saver? both you do need to take the shifter off but you don't need to take off the case saver to get the sprocket off. This should have been put in the 450R information board for a quicker responce.
