View Full Version : I just saw the scariest thing in my life!

My son had a junior hockey game tonight.

And a forward on my sons team (Jeff Liberti) was crashing the net when a player on the other teams skate came up and hit him in his jugular vaine.

I knew that was what it was when I saw the amount of blood coming out at such a high rate and so quickly. They quickly got him off the ice and rushed him to the hospital and I have no heard anything since.

Evidently they did cancel the game, and his whole team said a prayer for the kid.

It was just so reminiscent of the whole Clint Malarchuk incident in 89.

Here is a link to that story in case some of you have never heard about it.

The Clint Malarchuk Story (WARNING: IMAGE NOT FOR THE FAINT AT HEART) (http://www.ubersite.com/m/32313)

This is what it looked like on the ice tonight.

Please everyone say a prayer tonight for Jeff Liberti #33 tonight!

I will, but just curious, what is a jugular vaine if you don't mind me asking?

It is the vein that brings blood for the head and brain to the heart and vice versa.

To sum it up, it is a very important vein and there have been people that have severed it and died in minutes.

They are called the Jersey Titans.

I just got an update from Jeffs father and they had to give him a blood transfusion to keep him alive and he will be in surgery and they say he should recover.

One player (usually the defensemen at the point) takes a shot on goal. And the other players on the ice skate infront of the crease and the goalie in hope of getting a rebound.
