Key word of the day is back brake control. Learn to use your back brake and throttle will not be needed much

make sure you keep your foot on the rear brake

the 400ex is the best wheelie machine

true dat...
ive found that starting the wheelie in 2nd or 3rd is better/easier than poppin the clutch.for me,as a beginner that is.poppin the clutch will get the front end up fast but i feel its harder to find the balance point that way.plus when youre goin that slow, the point is higher than if you were goin faster.
pfft!physics.....

poping the clutch will destroye the gears if it is done too much, go in 2nd or 3rd, when i first started learning to wheelie i put my leg and the grab bar till i got my balance point, then try it standing up till, now i can do them sitting down and with my legs over the bars. eventually with enough parctice you can do them in 5th. make sure the tire pressure is even or you will drift one way.

so its easier to wheelie standing up then sitting?i mean standing with both feet on the pegs.

I found this to be true when learning to wheelie but just the opposite once you get good at it.

Good throttle work will eliminate the need for braking.

I very rarely need to use the back brake anymore when riding a wheelie.

It will hard to stay in a whelie in first try second gear, also kneel on the seat with on foot on the brake pedal that way it'll be much easier to raise the front end, if you feel it going back to much ease the throttle the comp braking should lower the front end the tab the gas again then repeat 3 & 4

By the way if you need to turn just lean in the direction of the turn, and make sure you tires have equal press or you wont go st8

yeh theres no need to pop the clutch at all. and your problem could be starting in first. its a lot harder to ride a wheelie in first gear than any other try pullin it up in 3rd or 4th
