I run with one on my K&N airfilter and when I wash my 450R the water beads off of it. I don't see how it would let water in.

I had one on my 400ex that was covering a K&N and ran an open lid. I had no trouble after I washed it or went through water holes while racing XC. Just be sure to pull your plug off the bottom of the airbox to drain out the water.

Water will get into outerwears. They make two kinds if part number starts with a 10 it is not water resistance, if it starts with a 20 it will repel water.

I don't see why it wouldn't.

I think the outterwears junk up when directly against a UNI, the oil gets them stuck to it and ends up accelerating the cloging of the filter. I run a UNI but my outterwears stretches over the opening where the lid used to be.

Yea I too don't like it on my uni. I have the outerwears for the lid and one over the snorkle.

An outerwear for the lid is the way to go, I've notice it's helps a little with the filtering too, not just with water. I think they're a must for any type of riding you do.

Even at Glamis too. I get a "puddle" of sand on top of the outterwears at the end of the weekend, and the filter only has the smallest of grit, very clean.
