How do you break in a new 06 trx450r

What do you need to do to break in a 06 450r

i ride mine no higher then half throttle for about 2 hours or so, then ill ride it around no higher then 3/4 throttle for about 4 hours, then i go full bore on it, you should be low on gas your first tank before you go full throttle, i did mine full throttle when i had maybe 3/4 of the tank empty

there is a link somewhere to like motorhead or motor man or something like that that says y u should break your bike in harder like that instead of just idling it like honda says to or whatever, im sure someone will post that

Hold it wide open and make sure no yfz's get sucked in the snorkel.Just kidding.......take it easy for the first tank or two of fuel varying the rpm's and don't let it idle alot.Change the oil and let it rip.:D

after one or two tanks i can let it rip than i hear some ppl say that you should ridr it like you stole it what do you think about that

o ya i forgot to mention that, ride it for about 20min and let it cool, then ride for 2 hours, let it cool, then 2 more and cool, etc

i would never go full bore on a brand new quad breakin it in, but thats just me

This is the way I broke my quad in. I absolutely swear by this method. Read it, read it again, and then read it real good again, lol. Understand all aspects of breaking your motor in the mototune way. My quad is a little over a year old. Valves are great, compression is on top, outruns yfz's all day, and still rides like the day i got it. If you understand this article, then you will understand...its all about the "blow-by" :)

The motoman article is how I broke my 06 in.....get it warmed up really well and then go run it.......I was never completely at full throttle but I ran it pretty hard.......so we'll see how it goes

Same here. I used the motoman method. Basically rode it hard - but remember to allow the motor to slow you down. I did not use the brake hardly at all.

For the most part - I ran it really hard.

your rings will never seat properly if you baby it to break it in. ride it around at about half throttle on a road or grass for about 15 min. to take the high spots off the cam. then run the hell out of it to seat the rings properly. change the oil after about every hour or so till you've gone through a few tanks of gas. then you should be all set. use a petroleum based oil to break it in on. then if you prefer after break in to switch to synthetic.

I think you should ride it easy for 15 min then let it cool down the ride it harder for 20 min let it cool down then ride it all the way let it cool dwon then ahve fun
