Carb/plug question..

Changed the plug in my 400ex.It had a Splitifre in it and I put a new NGK.The splitfire looked fine but old.Tip was brown but base was black.Looked a touch lean to me.

I put the NGK in and she is popping at idle pretty good..Bit of throttle and normal.Before she would just pop while warming up very little bit.Now it won't go away.

I'm thinkin turn the fuel screw out a 1/4 turn?

Jesus.....3-1/2 out and she runs better..still random pop...what gives here?

I put the Splitfire back in and the pop is all but gone.It's just a poof out of the muffler but it is annoying.The NGK felt stringer in the throttle but the Splitfire without a doubt idled better.:ermm:

I put the old Splitifre back in and the pop went away...didn't touch anything.:ermm:
