Well I'm buying new cases again for my R the crack bearings spun inside of the races and tore up both cases. Since feburary I have blown up my tranny locked up a crank and now this allong with allot of smaller break downs allong the way. I use synthetic oil and change it every 2 rides and never run it low on oil. This whole Honda reliablity bull has me so pissed I could puke.

Dont use synthetic oil in your quad, use honda GN4 10-40, and change it often. Honda's are meant to be ridden but not obliverated! And if you do beat the snot out of it, rebuild it often and wipe that mucus up off the floor

There are no problems with using synthetic. Dealers aren't the most reputable sources of info. Change the oil often does help keep the ride alive.

2 seasons of MX on my 04. No mechanical problems. I cracked my frame but otherwise nothing. I replaced the usual; cam, piston, and clutches. Hell, I still have the stock front brake pads.

No problems here, I just spent about $2k in motor mods, crank was within specs, everything else was also within specs. Nothing sounded wrong after start up either. Been using Honda hp4m synthetic since the 2nd oil change. Switched over to Amsoil full synthetic 20/50 a little while ago, still no problems.

04 here with almost 90 hours oil and filter changed every 5-8 hours, (honda gn-4) trans oil (bel ray gear saver 80w) changed every 10. Valve adjustments every 20-30 and a clean air filter always. Runs like a champ and I go super hard on it when I hill climb out in PA.

Wouldn't doubt it at all prepracing . Yes I do race culookn just about every weekend. When I don't race I put at least 5-6 hours of practice in on the weekends.

Man I have an '05 R and honda already replaced the motor because of a locked up crank, only 10 hours in. Now with an additional 10 hours on it, My tranny case got blown out from the kick starter while trying to start the P.O.S. Good luck to both of us. The ****ty thing is that i just had a new Yoshimura full exhaust, Dyno jet, and cdi installed. :(

the only time I have ever seen a trx or crf kick back is if you give it gas,and kick it like a girl (no offense ladys). lol:D But its true!!!!

kick a cr 500 or a xr 600 a few times then you will get the hang of it.

sorry guys just my 2cents.

That's one thing that the electric start should take care of, the cracked tranny cases...

ATC350X 85

The case cracked because of an improper starting procedure. If you give it gas it will kick back and crack the case because of the extreme pressure of the kick back.

The thing is this is what I would expect from yamaha...not HONDA. The cracked cases and the bent radiators are poor designs IMO. I know others will disagree but you should be able to kick these bikes HOWEVER you want and NOT have a broken side case.
