That is going to be a nice looking quad. You have made the right decision using Hetricks racing for your parts. They have helped us alot and are just super cool people to work with. If you can, have them set you up with some of their engine equipment and that quad will be a completly different bike Good luck racing!

Sweet, Why did you go with +2's instead of +3's?

I honestly can't tell you why I didn't go with +3's other than I just figured it would be wide enough with the +2's.I guess we will see.

Awesome mini you got there.I should be getting my Elkas anytime now.I need to get wheels and tires and an axle.Didn't you put the Hetrick chain adjuster on your son's Kasea?I think that would definately be a good mod I will go with as well.

Yes I did put the adjuster on. It's fairly easy to do. Did you gusset the frame on yours?

wvspeedfreak
10-27-2005, 06:18 PM
No I haven't gusseted the frame yet.I haven't had the quad down to the bare frame yet, just bolting on some aftermarket stuff right now. When it does get torn down it will be gusseted though.

i have the chain adjuster in stock, wheels and tires hopefully anyday:scary:

Well I can tell you from my experience that the rear motor mounts are going to break. If you ever have a problem of the chain coming off the 1st place to look is the rear motor mounts.

wvspeedfreak
10-27-2005, 07:09 PM
The chain is constantly loosening up on it.Maybe I better look it over.

Pappy
10-27-2005, 07:10 PM
we never broke motor mounts, but sheared many a chain adjuster:grr:

AtvMxRider
10-27-2005, 07:30 PM
I guess that b52 does it then:devil: But his has broken 3 times and the last time it broke the rear motor mount bolt and the motor fell down:ermm:

And better get it dialed in quick our 1st race is Nov. 5 now we're just trying to decided on tire/wheel set up for Flattrack!!! I think we are goingt o use our LT80 front spindles/hubs so we can run our alum wheels on the front probably just have to go w/ the rear stockers for now I'd like to get a set of AR from Hetricks but not sure yet, if worse comes to worse we can run a set of turf tamers off of our blaster once we cut off a lug nut that got stripped out :grr: :o trying to break it loose :(

It is a spring loaded chain tensioner that mounts on the swingarm. It keeps the slack out of the chain througout the travel of the swingarm.

wow, you have a nice looking shop w. virginia. I have been reading your posts about Kasea quads. My son rides one that is using Hetricks racing equipment also. When you mentioned chains loosening alot due to broken motor mounts I decided to check our quad out for the same reason, sure enough, our rear mounts were broken and I have begun installing new mounts that we had received from Hetricks. Thanks for posting your experience with these quads. what i would like to know is, besides the two motor mounts brackets, where are the remaining brackets installed? the diagram I have is a little undescribtive about the exact location of where the go.

Actually,it was Atvmxrider that had the broken rear mounts. He has been very helpful with us on our Kasea.I am sure if you sent him a pm he would be more than glad to help you out with your question.

I bet you he loves the elka's. If I where you I would flip the front tires around so the offset is backwards I think it gives you like 2" in the front :D

I guess it's just the rider's preference.

wvspeedfreak
11-09-2005, 07:00 PM
I just put the Elkas on today.Due to my work schedule he won't get to try them out until Saturday.I can tell a HUGE difference in the rear just pushing on the grab bar.The stock rear shock had such a slow rebound that if he hit 2 bumps in a row the shock was stacked. The fronts seem a little stiff but he will have to ride it to tell.
Thanks for all the compliments.

Pappy
11-09-2005, 07:11 PM
pushing down the front end on the single arm set up will not net you with anything:p if you could get the front tires to slide out while pushing down you could feel them as you do the rear.

saturday we will be hunting, but sunday id love to see him over here for some ridin!

its not preference, its the same result as wheel spacers. bad handling is bad handling. and depending on the rim offset it could narrow the front end instead of widen it.

I am sure they will be 10x better than the stockers:) By the way, what brand is that steering damper on your Kasea?

That's one from Hetrick because I can see part of the Gibson sticker on it. All the stabilizers are pretty much the same just who sticker is on it. Hetrick makes thier own clamps for a better fit but that just my experience.

When you gonna put a pipe on that thing? I could swear I saw a stocker a few pic's back.

Yep its a Gibson from Hetricks. I think it was like $179

What type of motor work have you done to it Jason?

wvspeedfreak
11-10-2005, 01:20 PM
The engine is bone stock right now.I was wanting to concentrate on setting up the chassis right now and get it to handle and jump well.A power up kit from Hetricks will probably be all I do engine wise this winter until he gets a little bigger and I feel he needs more power.

Yeah,I put a Denton stabilizer on ours that was off of my old 250r.I just modified the clamp that goes around the steering stem a little for a better fit.As far as the pipe goes,it will be on before next riding season.I am just tring to concentrate on the chassis for now.

Thanks.Austin will be 7 years old next month. We have several "local" tracks that he will race at next year. Then when he turns 8 and can legally run his quad at sanctioned events we will run a few races in the 90cc production class and see how it goes.As long as he has fun it's all good
