A 146 sounds quite lean for the main. What is your other jetting? Pilot, needle and air mixture. Are you using the choke? Have you tried to pull start (bump start) It ran fine before the shorty? Do a quick spark check and install a new plug.

yea the dyno jet kit told me to run a 146 w/ air box lid on and after market exhaust....my pilot jet is stock and the needles on the 3rd notch while the air/screw mixture is 3.5 turns.....i use the choke on and off....and no havnt tried to pop start it cuz i got no shoxs...still waitin on them...yea it ran fine before the shorty but ran fine 2 days ago with the shorty...i found a used plug i had that seems to b fine...so i put that in and im gettin the carb cleaned on friday so ill see how that all goes...

146 seems small with the lid on.

Definitly up the pilot to a 40 or 42

Leave the choke alone when you start it.

At 970ft a 38 pilot which is stock will work but a 42 is better. also the stock main for that shoulda been a 148 but the main shouldn't affect the start up. i run a 170 main and i'm around sea lvl. have a full exhaust and no lid.

Its a 42 pilot not 142. probably just a typo, also take the jet with you there are 2 different ones for the 400 carb. I bought both when i did mine to save a trip since they were only 3 dollars each.
