stock chain problems

how do you take off the stock chain on the 400? is there a master link or do i just have to cut it off? my friend insists that there is no master link.

your friend is correct. you have to cut it off.

well how did they get it on in the frist place?

To replace the stock chain with another stock Honda chain, the swingarm must be removed. You can cut the stock chain off and replace it with one that has a master link, or cut the stock chain off and replace the cut link with a master link so that you can put it back on. This is what most people do so that they don't haveto remove the swing arm.
