A no link gives you more travel, and better handling, especialy in whoops. A cr500 link I don't really know the difference between the cr500 link, and the stock link, but it's a much better improovement over stock, and a little better than all around than the no link.

well a link for one takes the abuse of all the jumping and bumps. your swing arm is much more liable to crack if your shock is bolted directly too it. A cr 500 link has different geometry too. they way it moves is more fluis and gives better feel. downsides to a 500 link are you have to find one and then order a custum swing arm

no link setups are great, u can get them in any setup from lt desert racing to short travel tt setups... ive never herd of a no link setup being more prown to breaking the swinger... and you can even go no link on a stock frame.

I was told that the rear shock angle is better on a no-link.

the ride differance is amazing on a no-link. i hit the whoop section and the quad absorbed all of it. before it felt like it was bucking( might be the wrong word to describe it) on jumps with stock linkage coming up short the bike would be me know very well. today i came up short on purpose and it absorbed it. it didnt feel like i left the ground. on jumps where you landed right you still felt it on stock link, today with no link it was like landing on butter very smooth. all in all no-link is the way to go.

old setup- lsr frame, jb racing swingarm, pep shock
new setup- lsr frame, gibson swingarm no-link, axis rear shock.

hey bobby, i run the same setup as u, cept i got a roll design swingarm. I d have to agree with you 100% i can now pound thru woops with ease, only tihng i gotta worry about is keepin the front end up. with the stock link i was gettin kicked all over the track. I raced a few weekends ago, and my friend got so jelous of me on his 440ex.... he was ahead of me till the whoops section, then when he saw me come sailin past him he abotu sh*t a brick. now he wants no link on his 440, but cant find a setup for it.

same goes for jumps.... now im a little more balls out on the track, because im not afriad of gettin a spinal tap if i overshoot a bit, or come up short for that matter.

Only disadvantage i can see, is u need to shorten up ur airbox, and run a lt500 air boot. right now i got the stock airbox in there... and well since there is so much travel, the airbox gets smashed to bits. might run a clamp on K&N next year... but not sure.

someone in this thread put you can run a no-link with a stock frame. Do you just call up lonestar and let them know you're running the stock frame? Just curious what all needs to be purchased for this set up and from where.

JRD has a no link swinger for a stock link frame. i dunno if lonestars is give them a call and ask.

i prefer JRD stuff though.

the no-link sounds like the way to go what do you guys recommend for the front end?

baker250r

well.... if u have money. go plus 3 long travel front end. i reccomend either roll design or hermann a arms... mostly cuz i love the gull wing design. but to everybody his own.... and the shocks are up to u... i run TCS and cant complain.

ive heard the houser and gibson are good... but i hear u pay for the gibson name. the american stars are backed by a lifetime no questions asked warranty... but they are made of mild steel.. and from wut i hear, they way they are made, if they fail. u will end up putting ur shock in thr ground on a hard impact.... kinda hard to explain, but look at a picture of them, and u will understand wut i mean.
