i was wondering if i could put 450r shocks on my 300ex instead of buying expinsive shocks that might not be as good. and what mods would have to be done to put front and back on thanks

I'm not sure you can put em' on or not. But then aftermarket shocks would 5 times as good as R shocks on a 300ex

For the cost of the 450r shocks alone you can buy a pair of used works and possibly an 01 raptor shock.

I wouldn't think about trying to use 450R shocks on a 300ex...

The length of the front stock shocks are:

300ex 13.00 inches
400ex 16.25 inches
450R 16.75 inches
Blaster 14.50 inches
Warrior 14.50 inches

The Blaster or Warrior shocks are the magic size that work with 400ex a-arms on a 300ex without any special mounting brackets or welding. I see kids racing MX on them all the time.

Rear

300ex 14.38 inches
400ex 15.50 inches
450R 14.75 inches
660 Raptor 14.38 inches

The Raptor rear will work on a 300ex only if it has a remote rez...

Note that some grinding on the upper shock bushing may be required to make Yamaha shocks fit on a Honda...

If you want a cheaper way out of better suspension then just get some used works front shocks, and an 01 raptor rear shock.

Actually, 450R shocks are like 16.5 inches. Same as a Z400. Don't try putting them on your 300, they'll be way too stiff, like riding with steel rods in place of your shocks.
