subs and amps

does anyone here know alot about car audio... one of my friends has 2 solo baric 12s and bow, and a kicker 1000watt amp, and all the wiring for sale, for 800 bux, its 2 years old, is this a good deal??

Are they square subs?

I know a few years back the solobarics were round but, that was quite a while back.

If these are only 2 years old then they are square. If they are the L7's then that isn't too bad of a deal.

Only thing to watch out for are the subs. People that have those subs play them LOUD! and they are loud if you have enough power.

Is the amp a kx1000? or is he just telling you he has a 1000 watt amp?

Find out if it is 1000 rms or max. Otherwise if it is max that is not enough amp to push those subs. Honestly, you really need 2 kx1000. Those L7's are 750 RMS....

too much money for that setup for sure. for the money, i wouldnt buy the l7's. they honestly are not that great. yeah, they hit but they dont drop. the old kickers were a much better woofer in my opinion. save your money and get something better! the l7's cannot handle a true 1000watts. i broke a set in on an bench, threw them into an box designed for those subs, powered one with an zapco z600, next thing you know, i hear this weird noise, and you guessed it! one toasted sub. i didnt have it that loud either. i got rid of the L7's, went for hcca's and they produced a ton more sound, and hit hard and low. i got the l7's to produce 145ish on an meter, while the hcca's produced 151ish. i just do not feel that kicker is making the sweet subs like they used to

u can also never go wrong on the lil older rockford fosgate's there not all that great now but about 2 years ago they were prime.... now i got JL w3's and i love em they sound good and dont really hurt ur ears
