i thought i new how to wire up a kill switch but the way i know how to do it is hook it with the ignition wires but as i found out i can still pull the tab out and the engine stays running so could some one please explain the easiest way to wire it up



I Have serached but i don't understand what they was saying about hooking it up thro the coil

splice in to the black wire with the yellow stripe coming out of the cdi, then hook the other to a good ground.

ok i got that wire up and noticed that the ignition key wasn't working to turn on my bike yes the tab is in the kill switch and yes i unhooked the kill switch wires to try that but ummm that didn't work either i tired jumping the battery it wasn't the battery so i cut all my tape off my ignition wires were i spliced them earlier then made sure it was all wired correctly (it was) and then hooked that back up and tired again didn't work took the connecter green peice off the mount and looked at both ends they don't appear to be messed up either so i have no idea what is wrong now

Have you checked the fuse?

no where abouts is that located and i don't no why that would go bad ........



srry for so many stupid questions i don't no the 400ex from front- back only had mine for about 5 months

Does the neutral light come on? If so the fuse is fine.

It's located to the left of the battery in a white plastic box, may say FUSE on top. There should be two in there, one is a spare.

Unless Honda changed it on the newer models.

Don't forget to get another spare fuse;)
