How tall are you 450R Riders. I'm about 5'4, 5'5 and I think a 450R Might be a little too big for me, but you almost need one to be competitive over 16.

6'0" on the dot. The stock bars were too low for me, but I have 250R bends and it is one of the most comfortable quads I've ever been on.

My wife is 5'5" and she likes it, I would say you would be fine on the 450r or you might try a 400ex (that has motor work done)

Can a 400ex even keep up with the 450's though??

Don't let your heigth determine what you ride. I am 5'3" tall and ride a mx tricked out 450r and love it. I rode a full size CRF450r bike before I started riding quads. You are 16 as well and you will grow. The height between the 450 and the 400ex isn't that different so I don't see the real purpose if in getting a 400ex if you are a good enough rider. I wouldn't let your size determine what you ride when you are tall as you are. I would let your riding ability, use, and amount you want to spend be the determining factors.

you rode a full sized crf450r bike at 5'3"????????? im 5'11" and can barely touch the ground. impressive

one that has motorwork done will be able to compete all depends on what type of riding you are doing because alot has to do with rider ability in mx and xc.

i am 5'8" and i fit just right on my 450R. i actually need a taller stem to get the bars up higher. so it would probably fit you good.

Yeah I was a midpack 250B rider being my size. It wasn't that bad other than the starts and stalling it. I had about 4-5 inches if I was sitting up straight before I hit the ground. I love big power, but I fit perfect on a 85! I actually thought about spending the cash on a BBR CRF250 in their CR85 chassis but I didin't want to spend the $13,000 on it. So to me quads are much easier to ride, if I kill it I don't have to find a clump of dirt, hill, or jump for my life to get it relit!

How hard are they to start though? I know some kickers can be a little hard to kick over.

im 5'10'', and the 450 fits me perfectly, not too big, not too small

my 450r is pretty easy to start, probably because its worn in.

I'm 5' 8" and my 05 450r fits me perfect. I'm running a stock stem and do not have any trouble. I weigh around 200lbs so kicking it isn't a problem.:p I stand up to kick it on the starts but sit down and kick it any other time.

I never really kick-started anything on a regular basis before I got my 450 and I kick it sitting down, and it fires pretty easy.

As long as your tall enough to reach the pegs you should be fine.

Im 6' 2" and my 300ex is a little too cramped :D Getting an 06 450r within the next 3 months. So most of you other 6' guys said that the stock 450r bars are too low?

Do any of you know of 450r nerf bars that mount lower that stock? I think Im gonna get DG pro pegs since im tall and they look like they are a little lower than stock pegs.

Haha i love these threads, everyone likes responding to them so they can let the world know how tall they are.

I'm 5'11, 16 by the way; my bike fits me well with the stock heigth handlebars, although i think i could afford the bars to grow another inch taller perhaps, to help reduce the bending over fatigue on longer rides (this kills).

I'm 6 foot even and I've been fighting with the height of bars for 2 years now. Stock was to low. +2 stem with CR HI bars to low and not enough sweep. Now I will be trying a +2 stem with 400EX bend bars. I have to get extended front brake lines for the height of the bars. I was comfortable on my 300EX with just 400EX band bars.

Im 6 foot 3 170 pounds and have a +2 stem on my bike and i dont think that i would ever get another bike to fit as well as the HONDA does i love it.

I dont think the R is too picky what size you are. It seems to be comfortable for a wide range of riders. Im 6'7" and with +1.5 stem it feels better than stock although stock was still pretty comfortable. Im going to get the fat bar clamp and different bars just to get them up a little higher plus mine are tweaked. You should definitely go ride a 450 if possible and get one if you can ride it. you dont want to regret not getting it!
