Ok i have a 02 400ex and want to put a 440 kit in it to beat my brother in laws rapturd or at least keep up with him.
Where can i get this from and whats the average price everyone paid to get this done? Will i need a bigger cam and if so what brand does everyone recomend? I do a lot of dune riding at pismo and trail riding in the sierras. What exhaust also...I was thinking about the full race yoshi....anyone have this set up....Im new to this quad thing and I have no idea where to start...

Also would a 440 Kit hold up a little shot of the N2O laughin gas??

The 440 kit itself will run about $250 plus $50 or so to install the sleeve. I would think that you would want a more agressive cam, like White Bros track cam. Web and everyone else will have one also that is simiular. Heavy duty springs are a must with a agressive cam, and you might want to harden the rockers. Don't forget to get a valve job and some port work.
I have heard good things about the yoshi pipe so I don't think you will go wrong. I would get a bigger carb also, either a FCR or Edlebrock.
I would guess with all that you will spend around $1500-$2000. If you discide to spend that much, I know that you will be happy with it and it will give that Raptor a run for his money! :D

For $1500-$2000 you could send it off to a builder and have a badass 440 put in it. It shouldnt cost near that much to build a motor kit locally that will keep up with a Raptor!! My 416 was beating just about every Raptor I raced and I had about $600-700 total in everything(piston kit,cam,port\polish)

I didn't mean to mislead anyone, that price should include a complete exhaust, carb, parts and labor. Yes the engine work should only run about $800 unless you send it to TC or Sparks. Then when I figured the exhaust and carb then it runs into the $1500 + range.

I paid about $1000.00 to have all the work done on mine, and the pipe, rev kit, filter, header were another $860.00..... now I just ordered a 39mm FCR carb for it today for another $449.00!

I hope the carb is worth the money! Please tell me I didnt just blow 450.00 bucks....

I decided to go up to a 440 kit, but after shopping around, I decided to go with a 465. It was a little pricey ($2300) , but well worth it. I had to crate up my motor and ship it off to Trinity Racing in Southern Cali. The kit also includes cam and extensive head work, as well as the high-comp piston. No one has yet been able to run with me. Also very reliable, so far. The $2300 also includes Trinity's Stage IV Racing Exhaust, stainless headpipe and silencer (very, very loud):devil . The kit is also available for $1900 without the full exhaust system. Visit www.TrinityRacing.com. Very informative about the kit.

I started to send my motor off to Trinity at first but I ended up changing my mine! For just about the same price as the Trinity 465 I could get the TC 505 so thats why I changed my mind! Harry is a good guy over there but he is best at building 2 strokes! He builds a fast Banshee!!!

I paid $1300 for my work. That included porting, valve work, sleeve installation, cam, piston, rockers, ect. That didn't include exhaust, carb, or rev kit.
I had to take it apart and put it back together myself.

I had a mild 440EX and now I have a full piped raptor and my 440 was almost as fast as my bike now but with a full race 440 or bigger you will be faster then any stock or piped raptor out there
hope this helps
