im looking to get some more torque by changing the gears. im going to buy a 13 tooth front sprocket for a z400 and i was wondering if i would need to buy a new rear sprocket with 1 more tooth than stock or do i need a shorter chain or can i just adjust the stock chain? thanks

It you're chain and sprockets are well used..
I'd swap out the whole set, so you dont have to worry about any wear issues.
I wouldn't go any larger on the rear sprocket. Going smaller on the front makes a pretty big difference already.

Been there done that it will give you *** kickin low end especially if youre runnin stock tire I tried the 13 because I ru n 22''s out back now I run a 14 ,but it will slow you down big time If youre a real top speed kind of guy like me youll definitely notice a top end loss not exactlly gonna be a turd but I found the loss too much.

once i put the sprocket on how can i tighten up the chain so it will work with the smaller sprocket without having to buy a rear sprocket with 1 more tooth?
