if your talking about the 250ex thats a big no. you wouldnt be able to mount the 250ex motor in another bike because of the shaft drive in it.

First off, how old is he? But a 250 engine in a 90 frame is way to much imho.:o

Same here, guy had a 250R in a late model TRX90 on eBay that he was selling a while back. He said he had to modify the frame, of course. But sure enough that motor was sittin in that 90 ready to rip! So it CAN be done, but it might be a costly endeavor.

As in, 250R motor?

More power is one thing, but that's insane.

Ever look into a blaster motor? It's entirely possible a little 200cc 2-stroke could replace a 90cc 4-stroke without major frame mods, just the basic mounts and stuff. It would give a nice power increase without being insane.

I might be talking out of my @ss here, I've never owned either one.

Thanks....... the blaster is 200 cc two stroke.... that would be good enough I would think for my son..... if the size is right I would imagine I would only have to make mounts and modify a pipe....that would be way cool... thanks

Is there such a thing as being to much POWER!....... I always felt you can never have to much........ Fast and hard are the only ways to ride...... some people say safe but that kinda takes the fun away.........

I would but my son would be to small for it...... he is 7 and one of the best riders I have seen..... I guess I should have not started letting him ride at 2 years old.........yeh I should have.... I have another boy that is 4 that can use it after him...... so it will be worth it........

Get your hands on a CR85 or CR80 motor. This has been done several times! The CR motors are light and compact and produce serious power. Your TRX90/CR85 hybrid will be faster than a 300ex!

Also, you can fully modified a TRX90 to have a 125cc. Trust me, it's fast. Check out www.robbsracingengines.com. He also has built several CR80/TRX90 hybrids

I think it would be easier to buy a blaster and move the pegs up (and adjust all other levers and such) and get a smaller seat (less foam) and put smaller wheels and tires on it and go that route.

The cr85 is going to give that much more power....... if so it would be a ton easier to fit in...

In fact, the NEATV 90cc open mod champion won on a TRX90/CR80 powered rocket

do a search on the yzf450 (dirt bike) they actualy had to make it slower 'cause people were complaining about how fast it was, (which is sad because then everyone went out and bought the crf after yamaha just created the most powerful stock bike... ever)

my first real quad ( not powerwheels) was a 1994 blaster when i was 7 years old. I rode her just fine.

Personally I would just go out and get a blaster. It would be alot better in the long run, because your sons gonna grow bigger really fast and that 90s gonna be to small for him soon. So I would I just get the blaster, and once he gets used to it it should be fine.

Check with icracing or robbsracing.
You can more than double the stock power.
We just finished putting a cr80 motor in a blaster chassis
and it runs very strong but the TRX's suspension is very limiting.

If you have the money robbs racing will build you a 49.5 " wide trx with dual a-arms and 10" of travel in the front and rear. If you want a to put ar cr 85 engine in a trx frame you would be a lot happier if went to Hetrick racing and got a custom made 90 mod. You would kill your self on stock trx frame with a larger engine you need better shocks first. but what ever you want to do is fine with me.

if you want a 90 mod class champion...you will have robb build you a trx 125, i race neatv and i have seen robbie rip everyone apart on his...he also races a cr80 hybrid and although jason conell usual smokes him, he rips on it to....

Holy crap, a 50 inch 10 inch travel 90 would be crazy! put a 250R motor and there and that thing would rip, it would be so light.
