For anyone wanting a new cam the new HOTCAMS stage 2 cams are in at C&D Racing, call and talk to Dusty or Kolby at 308-696-7805.
These cams are a straight drop in cam and are the best one availble today. GT thunder is switching to these cams as soon as they get them. C&D is the only place that has these in at this time. I will gettin mine in the mail tomorrow. Hurry they only have a few left, tell them I sent ya.

Hey Hallett You gettin comission or just another one of Colby's lackies :D
JK

Anyhow what are you talking about in at C&D I have my Hot cam in the motor already.

For the performance stuff it seems to work pretty good just started to break it in today. Was a little concerned that the specs were not what I expected. The grind was a little smaller than advertised but still seems to work good from the lower RPM and great midrange.

And there is no drilling to accept the de-compression feature of the stocker.

Visual inspection was that its a quality product and it didnt look like the lobes were as hardend as the stocker. Could this be why they dont require the hard face rockers?

The requested price is the same but see what you can do there:cool:

So far service has been good.

I am not sure about the stage 1, just give them a call, if they dont have it they will get it for ya. 440, where did you get yours at allready? Are you sure that it is the stage 2? I can't wait to get mine, should be here tomorrow, Dusty sent it out to me today. i will inform you all when I get it in.

I got it from C&D :)

Its the stage 1. I wanted the extra lift (but its the same as the stage2:rolleyes: ) and less duration to keep the power band a little lower and not loose too much bottom end.

I think they were out of stage1 but they may have been delivered with the stage 2 as C&D had more stage1 on order.

The stage 2 is for raceing applications and the 1 is just for play ridin I think.

by specs alone there is no comparison. Either the stage 1 or 2 has that much more lift and duration.

But who knows as the one I have was not the same specs.

Can you post the specs on your cam card?

Intake: Exhaust:

Lift: 8.85 mm 8.60mm

Lobe Center: 106 107

Duration @ 1mm: 254 254

hmmmmm:confused:

Those numbers are the same as listed in the specs.

the stage1 was listed at

Stage 1-
9mm .354, 9mm .354
246 :246

but the one I received was not too the same spec. I dont have the cam card here but I think it was 8.85 lift and only 2.40 dur.

I will check it out and post it later.

how exactally do you go about installing a cam?

06-18-2002, 09:52 PM
OK here it is:

Expected this
Stage 1-
IN EX
lift 9mm .354, 9mm .354
dur .246 .246

What I received
lift 8.85m .349 8.6m .339
dur .232 .229

compare to
XR's at .
326 .321
240 244.

Well this stage1 cam spec (the one received not expected) would be a good drop in for a stocker or maybe with a pipe, intake and jet kit but its just not enough cam for the set up I have.

I had decided to try the stage1 mostly for the higher lift and was willing to give up some duration (I wanted to keep most of the bottom end and get a big punch in the mid and a little more top) but this was just too much of a drop in the numbers.

I have not had time to call C&D yet but as you can tell I am not happy :grr

Its only a small amount of $$$ but I am just getting tired of having to tear into the motor over and over.

Well had a chance to put some more time on it today and its an OK cam. It did add a good amount of "punch" but as I thought it just isnt enough for the 440 or at least I was wanting more.

I am going to either get the stage2 or the 479 web and try it out in mine and will try out the stage1 in a mostly stock 400 (basic mods like said above) later and let you guys know how it works in that quad.
