View Full Version : 400ex rebuild problems

i have a 2004 400ex and i just put a 426 kit in it and i couldnt get it started 4 two weeks untill i took the decompressor assembly off the stock cam and it fireds right up...but now it seems to be pushing oil out of where the headers are put on the engineand it gets on the headers and it burns .... when i put it together i put oil in where u would ajust the valves to lubracate it and i dont know if i put to much in, but I NEED HELP!!!

did you put the sping and plunger back in the head when you assembled the motor? If not that is why you had to remove the decompressioner to get it to start. as for the oil problem could be a bad valve seal/or rings. adding too much oil on the valve cover shouldn't be a problem it should have run down the cam chain side into the bottom end you made need to check your oil to make sure you are not overfull.

i dont think its rings cuz there new and i dont thinks its the valve seal cuz it didnt do it just b4 i rebuilt the motor
