St. Clairsville, OH – With the youth race underway, the morning racers headed to the Tech Inspection before the start of the race. The morning race was going to be sloppy, so many racers duct taped up their front bumpers to keep the mud out of the radiator, and Mark Pittman took advantage of the situation to show off his patronage by using multicolored tape to create an American Flag on his bumper.

Kevin Johnston prepares his Kawasaki for the mud and continues to display his support for Breat Cancer awareness, and for those aren’t aware October is actually Breast Cancer awareness month, so here is a link for more information www.nationalbreastcancer.org

With GNCC racing back in Ohio, Tom Farr couldn’t resist competing this weekend with the race only a short drive away, and unlike his DNF at the Penton, Farr would go on to finish out the day in second place behind Jim Stack in the Utility Modified Class

In any form of racing, the start of the race can make a huge difference in the outcome, so many racers head to the starting line well before the start to lineup, so they can try to pick that perfect spot on the line and hope for the Holeshot.

Billy Good was one of those to arrive early in hopes of clinching the 4 Stroke Stock Class Championship over Jarrod McClure in second place. Billy Good skipped the Unadilla round because he couldn’t find anyone to make the long trip with him from Tennessee, which took away his opportunity of earning the 201 plate for 2006, which has belonged to Stephanie Parton for the past three years.

Dan Kiehl finished 5th in the Stock Class last season on a YFZ450 and earned himself two podium appearances along the way, but for 2005, he has only raced a handful of times in the 4 Stroke A Class, but he decided this weekend to give the Stock Class another run aboard a Honda TRX450R

Unfortunately Dan would only complete two laps, but maybe he will give it another try at the Ironman where he finished third overall last year in the mud.

A very pregnant Jean Lovely was geared up and ready to race to complete her ninth race of the season, so she would complete the minimum nine races required for year end awards. Jean Lovely only need to start the race to qualify, but she decided that she wanted to try to pad her 5th place points position by completing two laps and finishing in 6th place.

With the help of ATVriders.com, Racer Productions, and Thomas Wright, John Saxon made the long trip north from Mississippi to compete in his 9th race of the season, so he could still have the possibility of finishing in 2nd Place in the 35+ C Class.

ITP Tires donated a complete set of tires to Saxon, and he was excited to be back on the line once again. John ended up finishing out the race in 12th place, which was enough to secure the runner up position behind Thomas Wright in the class.

He will be staying with friends in family in PA and IN until the Ironman, and it is great to have him back.

Mickey Dunlap checked out Cain Smead's Bombardier that he borrowed from Mike Penland for an upcoming article in Dirt Wheels Magazine.

Ken Robey has been a man on a mission since making the switch back to Kawasaki at the Penton, and he won the last four races which catapulted him up into the points chase between Mike Penland and Michael Swift.

Robey’s winning streak would come to an end this weekend when he experienced some tie-rod and cotter pin issues, which sent him for a superman flight over the handlebars, which dropped him from second place back to fourth to finish out the race.

The Winner of the Utility Stock Class will come down to Ironman with the pressure on Penland because even if he wins the race Robey can still win the Championship by finishing in second place behind him, which will have Penland holding steady with 11 Championships.

With everyone lined up, it was time for the morning race to begin.

The Womans class championship is coming down to the wire, and Traci Cecco and Stephanie Parton were wheel to wheel heading into turn one.

Traci won the battle out of turn one with Parton in chase

The Stock class is full of talent, and by no means are very many of the riders racing showroom stock machines. The new 06 TRX450R would make its debut at the Powerline, and Dave Bishop wasted no time getting his electric start R out front.

Pappy
10-18-2005, 05:44 PM
The first turn wasnt going to take the speed Bishop was willing to give it and he quickly found himself staring down the onslaught of those behind him!

Pappy
10-18-2005, 05:45 PM
Thankfully everyone missed Bishop and the race for turn two was on between Jarrod McClure & Chris Neal. Bishop wouldn't be the only rider to spin out in the field as several more riders including Chris Neal would spin out before heading into the woods with Billy Good taking the lead followed by Jarrod McClure hot on his heels.

Eric Haspel would also get off to a great start in third with Harlen Foley in fourth with Michael Sroka and John Wright in chase.

Billy Good would spin out and allow Jarrod McClure to take over the lead, which he would never surrender as he would go on to claim overall for the second time in a row as this young talent keeps getting better with every race and is still a teenager with years of racing ahead of him.

Harlen Foley learned a valuable lesson that you should never race a new quad without riding it first as he struggled all day with his new machine, and allowed both Michael Sroka and John Wright to pass him at the end of the first lap.

Sroka would go on to finish his best race of the season in third place with Eric Haspel dropping back to finish in 7th ahead of Foley whose day went from bad to worse on the last lap when his kill switch failed at the 2 mile marker, which left him sitting for atleast a minute trying to figure out the problem.

35+ C Class

Glen Pritchard wouldn’t grab the Holeshot on his Suzuki as he rounded turn one chasing after two Yamaha’s and a 250R, but he would waste no time taking over the lead and pulling close to a two minute lead over second place Aaron DeLancey by the end of the first lap, and he would extend his lead to over three minutes before getting tangled up in a grape vine trying to get around Harlen Foley after his Suzuki shutoff in the trail. Foley would drift his Suzuki out of the way for Pritchard to continue the race, which costed him some time, but he still managed to win the race by over two minutes over Aaron Delancy with Chris Gray in third.

Yamaha YFZ450 throwing up some roost, but not enough to stop Pritchard aboard his Suzuki LTZ400.

Utility Stock

Mike Penland was able to beat out Kevin Trantham to the first turn, but Trantham was right where he needed to be to take over the lead by the end of the first lap with Penland dropping back to 4th behind, Dirt Wheels Editor, Cain Smead. Ken Robey would take over the second spot until his superman dismount in the final lap, which allowed Smead and Penland to each move up one position. Robey would remount and finish in fourth.

Cain Smead put in an impressive ride aboard the Bombardier finishing in second place on a machine he never rode till the day of the race

16-21 C Class

Kevin Yoho would win his second race in a row and this time in the abscene of the Class Champion Brentz Foltz would wrapped up the Championship with his second place finish at Unadilla.

Pappy

Kevin Patterson (Cheetah) would find himself dodging spunout riders.

Utility Modified

Cliffton Beasley would grab the Holeshot, but Jim Stack was on a mission to prove his win at Unadilla wasn't a fluke as he battled his way to the front aboard his RINCON early in the first lap to take the lead, and he would go on to win by over five minutes over Tom Farr in second place.

Class Leader, Scott Kilby was out of the race with mechanical problems

Utility Unlimited

Doug Henke was back in action at Powerline Park after skipping Unadilla, and he must have been in a hurry to get home because he was on fire and finished 11th Overall and over eight minutes ahead of Kevin Johnston in second place.

22-28 C Class

With over 50 riders heading into turn one with the slipery condition their were bound to be problems, and it wouldn't take long for several riders to spin out.

Pappy
10-18-2005, 05:59 PM
It wasn't looking good for this unfortunate rider

Pappy
10-18-2005, 06:01 PM
Fortunately, he wasn't hurt and jumped back up to return to the race.

Michael Pellegrini was able to escape the first turn havoc and go on to win the race with James Watson finishing only 16 seconds back in second place followed by Erik Vickerd who raced his first race at Yadkinville.

I think we now have yet another Vickerd hooked on racing!!!

29-34 C Class

Jason Bougher heading into turn one with the lead as he begin to spin around backwards.

Pappy
10-18-2005, 06:03 PM
Bougher would perform a perfect first turn 180 as I guess him and Bishop had a bet about who could do a 180 in the first turn and still win, and Jason Bougher was up to the task as he worked his way up lap by lap to take over the lead on the final lap and win the race by five seconds over Brent Wingham.

Leroy Virts would finish out the day in third place.

Jarrod McClure Overall Win puts him into the running for the 201 Plate for next year if he can finish out the final race near the front once again.

Traci Cecco earns her third podium appearance of the season as she moves closer to regaining the Women’s Title from Stephanie Parton who will now need to win the Ironman to remain the Women’s Champ.

Billy Good's second place finish was more than enough to wrap up the Stock Class Championship for the second year in a row :macho

Congrats Billy Good, and it has been a blast racing with you the past two years.
