I would like some opinions on the value of a '89 TRX250R. This one is bone stock, sat in stotage for about 10 years, and is completely original in almost mint condition. Thanks

Suggested Retail Value $3440

The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions.

if its sat in a garage , all the tires will proly be drierotted , the motor most likely wont start and cosmetically its prolly ****. I would offer them 1700

an 89 in stock mint condition, is worth some serious buck, if the engine has not been touched and theirs not an aftermarket part on it, and it is in good shape the colector value can be huge, i have seen bone stock R's in mint condition go for well over 6K like elchankoblanko. its just a matter of finding the right guy.

Don't listen to people like this, bone stock 250r's are worth ALOT. Like some other people have been saying if is in mint condition then your looking at no less than 5 grand.

He isnt a retard, everyone knows mint stock 250r's go for a lot go money. What he means is that if a quad has sat in storage for 10 years, then it will most likely need some TLC. Just think of all those parts inside the motor that have been sitting there without any oil touching them, and they could be rusted. Cosmetically it would be ok, the tires might be dry rotted. My aunt has a Mustang that has sat in her garage for 6 years now, and all the tires on it are dry rotted, and all the gas lines and the carb are plugged up. Those are all just possibilities, it could be in perfect shape with nothing rusted or dry rotted.

Btw, how are you liking your 250r fontmaster? I know you went from a 300ex to the R, and I am considering doing that, but I don't know wether or not to go with the 450 or the 250. I just want something that will tear it up on the MX track.

Thanks, guys I already own this bike. The tires are not dryrotted and the engine is perfect. I did replace the plastic with new oem because the old stuff had some hairline cracks in it.

it depends how it was kept, it there was alot of water, well, then its as good as crap. but if its bone dry and clean, it should be in the same shape as it was left, good chance tires are dry rotted, but they are the same as 400ex tires and the rims are the same, so replacements are easy to get and look original.

I think the price has alot to do with the area your in also. The shocks will probably need a rebuild on them.

Well if its in that good of shape, then yes its worth a lot.

The value is totally subjective because I have looked at a lot of "MINT" 250R's and they were anything but. People say they are mint and original, but then like you said, you replaced the plastic so that's not original, does it still have the heelgaurds? If not, that will knock down the value. Has it been repainted, the list goes on. Aftermarket handle bars? Does it run?

And the biggest question - Is it for sale?
Post some good detailed pictures because if it's not actually MINT, you'll probably only get $3-4K

Thanks for the replies, I was just curious as to the value. I don't intend to sell the unit as of now. It is complete heelguards, key, toolkit, everything.

If it is truly and honestly "mint" condition, it could be worth well over $10 thousand.

However, truly "mint" is rare, hence the price. Most likely, yours is not truly mint.

In "excellent" condition, it could be worth $5000, because people still love them, and an excellent-condition OEM 250R is a nice find. Many people buying 250Rs do not want the gamble of a hard-ridden 250R, so they are willing to pay a bit more for something that was well-taken care of, or has low hours.

In "good" condition, it's worth about the same as any other 250R in good condition, modded or not. Somewhere around $2K-$4K.

Is it cleaner than this? I figured mine worth about 3. She's not mint but she's clean for 16 years old:D

Interesting post on here.... I agree a SUPER clean stock 89 250R is worth 5k..

Whoever said 10k has no idea what they are saying!!! No one in their right mind would pay that much for a bike that is coming up on its 20 years anniversary.

By the way, if you are, I will sell ya mine....

I just bought a super clean 89 for $3200.00 BONE STOCK!!! I just installed a pro circuit pipe, k&n, and re jetted but I have ALL factory parts.

The only thing this thing needs is the rear fender stickers to be back to factory stock..

Even the tool box has all of the original tools, manual and even the air pressire gauge.

Apparently this guy never saw the '88 that sold on eBay earlier this year for over $12000.

I'm not really an insider but I do know that the Mint "MUSEUM" 88 250R that SOLD on ebay for $12500 didn't actually sell. The guy who bought it didn't come through on the money. The guy paid $10500 for it so if anybody wants to quote what a 250R is worth...

This isn't just aimed at you Rich its for anybody to be informed.
PLEASE STOP REFERENCING that 250r because it wasn't a mint original, it was a restored to Factory original

I'd hate to burst the bubble but it was powedercoated and new stickers/plastic and tires and rims and motor and seat and ... all oem parts but replaced.

Just thought some people should know. It was an 88 version of what RICH250RACER did to his 86. I'm sure he could get a pretty penny for his from the right person.

Could have been somebody bumping it up too. Some of the members on here may know who Popo is, he's also a member at that other site. I've heard from him and a few other people from that site that one of the members or somebody they know still has an '89 in the crate (I would have to see it to believe it). Popo gave me the guy's name but I don't remember it. I do know that '89s didn't sell very well, and a local dealer near me (Honda of Niles) had one sitting on their showroom until early '93. It looked kind of sad, it was all scuffed up from people climbing on it and was sitting on two flat tires.

Id love to see one brand new out the box too from honda in 07 300 powervalve fuel injected R with factory axis suspension and then watch as all the 450s turned into recreational quads like the 400ex did. Id also laugh my as off as I walked all over them with my new 07 300r. "heavy sigh" but that will never happen. :(
