I am putting new rings in my 2002 400ex. I was thinking about going ahead and putting in a stage 1 cam. Will I see a significant increase in power with just the cam? I don't want to spend a whole lot of money, but I want to get good use out of what I do spend. Any suggestions?

You will see a boost in power, especially if you have a filter/exhaust combo already in place. A piston/cam combo will give a really good boost.

im buildin a 440 any day now as soon as I get all my pieces & I got a stage 3 or old stage 2 hotcams & it costs the same as a 2 or 3 anyway & virtually everybody runs that cam if money is an issue you might as well get a bigger bang for your buck.

If your not doing the piston upgrade to compensate for the loss in bottom with a stage 3, then stage 1 would be the best bet, it gives a good boost in mid/top with virtually no loss on bottom and maybe even a little boost on bottom. I personally ran an 11:1 std bore w/ a stage 1 and I loved the low/mid it put out, but it still hit pretty good on top. Good upgrade from stock.

Will a jet kit and rev box help also?
