Hey guys I'm looking at buying a new 2006 yamaha quad. I went to the dealership and the salesman showed me two bikes that both looked pretty nice. The raptor 700 and the YFZ450. They're asking $6,100 for the YFZ450 and $6,900 for the Raptor. I like to ride mostly in the sand. I like to dune more than race up and down the hills. Which bike is better. I like them both please help me out.

Is the 450R a better bike than these two?

If you are going to be in the dunes alot the Raptor may be better, Also reverse is kind of nice, I was in the same delima but I race XC so I went with the YFZ. That price on the YFZ is really good especially if it an 06. That is what I paid for my 05 SE

Yeah, get a 450R, I mean... Since you won't be racing it. But as soon as you line that thing up against a YFZ you'll want to take it back.:(

I respect your comment about the 450R and I do agree it looks and preforms real well, but I'm going to buy a Yamaha. I'm not stuck on the brand name. I just can get a better rate when I finance through Yamaha. I have been researching all different bikes and the Yamaha dealers in Southern California have the best offer at the present time.

I would really like to hear an honest answer from someone who has experience on both bikes like the gentleman above. Those types of comments are what I need to hear to evaluate the bikes. I can sit and read through past forums or pick up a ATV magazine and get a bias answer about one or the other. Or just take the time to try to get some resonable answers out of you guys. Please help me out. I'm trying to make up my mind by this weekend. Thanks in advance.
