I'm just wondering why it is faster, because i only bought a 450 so it would be quicker than my old quad, everything is stock on the 450 and i blew it away by 4-5 quad lengths on pavement....can ya help me out and answer my question why????

how do you know you were 4-5 quad lengths faster, if you just think your faster than thats another story, you can actualy ride some quads and think you are going fast but your actualy kinda slow, and how long have you had your R, i know every time i got a bigger bike i was always slower on it than my last one for at least 3 weeks until i got used to it

Remove the airbox lid, put a pipe on it and then rejet it will be a different machine.
Atleast remove the lid and the insert from muffler and rejet. Should make a great difference.

ya, 450rs stock are really mild on the power delivery, but pipe them, and no lid, or hrc kit them, and they are unleashed

yeah we switched quads and it was the same, its all broke in and everything,i also took the baffle out of the 450

the 426 has a pipe stage 2 cam, oversized vavles, port&polished, stock rear sprocket, hinson clutch basket and clutches, and it runs on 118 klotz fuel

i still figured no matter how much i had done to the 426,it shouldnt be faster than a 450

Ur just that good at building engines.. start doing some of that stuff to the 450 :D

Based on what i was told HH piston from VCP really wakes up the 450r.. also no pipe will wake up the 450r without a cam swap... the stock pipe is good enough with the stock cam you can not improve over that.. honda did their homework..

if you install the hrc cam and a hammer hedz you should be spanking the ex and running with YFZ's... if not beating them..

if you want any more tech info.. check out trx450r.org

You will smoke the YFZ's @ that point :) Cam and piston is a HUGE difference!

 the best mod you could do is pull off the airbox lid, rejet and throw on an aftermarket exhaust. you don't need to swap out the cam to get a large gain in power. a cam swap provides minimal gains compared to an aftermarket exhaust.

you are half way correct. no a new pipe will not make anymore peak hp but it will give you a ton more bottom end then the stock pipe with baffle removed. all i have done to my quad is a hmf slip-on and there is a big diff between the power now and the power before the slip-on.

Install the hrc kit, pipe, rejet it and you 426 will get smoked. They are very mild stock but once you do some simple bolt-ons its a whole different machine.

What do you have done to your 426?

Did you race them stock to stock or only with baffle out?

my 426 beat my stock 450r too by around 4 bike lengths. i then added a sparks pipe and the hrc kit. i was then around 4 bike lengths ahead of my 426.
