Anyone have an idea why my 04 yfz450 battery lost charge during a harescramble??? It was fully charged before the race.... i killed it a few times during the race and it fired right up .... finally one time the battery is dead and won't start.... i did run with the lights on. Only problem i've had before and still is when it gets hot it doesn't want to crank over very fast and have always feared it wouldn't start but it always did til now. I know this has probably been talked about before but never paid attention and i tried a search but did not work.
Any help or ideas appreciated
Thanks
Oh i did bring the bike home yesterday and fully charge the battery so of course it fires right up now.

Try popping it into neutral when it won't fire up like that. It will make a slight difference.

Did you have your lights on? The YFZs charging system will charge better when the lights are on. Some owners have had problems like this and running with the lights on can help. Yamaha makes a resistor kit that you can put on if you don't want to run with the lights.

Like I said this only seems to affect some bikes. Our YFZ has never even had the lights installed and we don't have battery problems.

My lights were on..... Do you think maybe the battery could be shot????

charge it with a battery charger and then run it and see if it stays charged with the lights on

Did you put a honda throttle on? Or a twist?

Go to your dealer.
There's a problem with vibration causing the batterie on the 04 and some 05 to lost their charge.

Yamaha has issued a tech-report on that...
there's a new part that you have to buy that gets rid of that problem.

I worked at a dealer for the past years.
