I can not install my LSR anti-fade locknut on my RPM axle because the clip to clip distance is shorter than my old LSR axle. The LSR measured 31.5cm while the RPM is 30cm. What is the clip to clip on the 250R axle supposed to be? This axle was previously used on a 400EX and came with the sprocket hub. Will it make a difference if try to get a different sprocket hub?

Oh yeah, how in the heck do you get the sprocket side clip off of the RPM axle? Removing the from the stock and LSR axles was EASY.

Current pics of my project can be found HERE (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=187088).

what was the axle originally for a 400ex or a 250r?

The seller said he used it on both a 400EX and 250R. I think it is for a 400EX since it came with 400EX rear hubs and the spacing on the sprocket hub seems to be different. I will check the sprocket hubs (LSR and RPM) after I find my micrometer.

you have to use the carrier as well i believe.

a 250r lsr or dominator will be the same specs for a R and for a ex, so it soudns like you have a ex axle and need a ex carrier....

I have an LSR carrier that is supposed to work with both the 250R and 400EX:(

try the 400ex hub, I remember hearing something about that if it is a 400ex axle ... :o

I have never heard of needing a 400ex carrier to use the 400ex axle in a 250r. I think you need to have a 400ex anti-fade to make it work.

Does anybody have access to an LSR catalog. I have been told by several people that the carriers are the same but the sprocket hub and anti-fade are different.

I need to find a way to get the sprocket HUB off of this RPM axle.

I guess I will start looking for a 400EX antifade:(

Carriers are the same for both bikes and LSR told me the only diff period was the splines for the hubs and the caliper mount itsself.

Hmmm... I didn't think about counting the splines. I'll do that tomorrow.

Thanks for the info!

The splines for the anti fades are the same, but the hubs have different splines for some reson.

I need to find someone who has 400EX antifade and sprocket hub so I can compare the spacing on the bearing contact areas. I am guesstimating that the 400EX antifade is shorter than the 250R. I think the sprocket hubs were about the same when it came to the bearing contact area.

Damn.. I was hoping to get to ride this beast before the end of the year but that obviously in not going to happen:mad:. I finally got a 400EX antifade which solved my problem but now I need to get a 400EX brake rotor for the 400EX antifade.

My CR250 rear brake pedal from Alba Action is lost in the mail thanks to the christmas time shipping hassles and the military postal service.

Sorry... I just needed to rant a little!

Aside from the part number for the carrier itself, there is no difference between a 400EX carrier and an 88-89 250R carrier, I even swapped carriers between quads when I had my 400EX. Acccording to my 400EX microfiche all of the internals are the same as a 250R (share common part numbers) including the center tube, which means the distance from the outside of one bearing to the outside of the the other will be the same as a 250R, so there should be no problem with seating your clip.

Rich - thanks for the response. There must be a difference on the spacing for the Antifades because I got the extra 2~3mm of space that I needed when I installed the 400EX antifade. I did not check the differences because I left my micrometer at home. I'll post my findings with pics later tonight.

Anybody have a 400EX rear brake rotor lying around
