Im 95% dure it cant be done, without heavy, and i stress, HEAVY! frame modification. I do know a guy that put one in a 400ex chassis, and he even had to cut and extend that frame to fit it, but i know it rips like a MOFO

I think it would be more trouble than it's worth. Take into consideration that the 250r frame has less room than the 400ex, and is shorter. I think that if you tryed to put a motor as big as the 650 into an R frame you would run into issiues with the upper frame rails and gas tank.

You would be better off putting in a cr500 engine.

to be honest i'm not real familiar with the xr650 motor... i just figure it cant be the best thing to do, as with as much money as will be spent trying to convert a 250r or 400ex for one, rolled into somnething else would be a lot cheaper/better/easier

I remember this thread! Actually there were a a couple Baja1000 teams that had TRX650R. I'll try to find some info on them later.

Yeah i am a yamahater too. I would like to ride a xr650 quad one day. Its too bad honda doesnt change things very ofter. I guess they just use what works and they dont have too worry about too many lawsuits like they did with the 250r.

ha ha ha... i had forgotten about this post... no im not pro raptor nor pro yamaha, i jsut think it would be gay to chop up a 250r frame to try and put a xr 650 engine in it... more hassle than its worth... i was just saying if he wanted a big 4 stroke quad, get the raptor (since its a big bore...) alright bee- i change my suggestion, i shoulda told 'em to get a DS 650... (of course those arent any better than raptors... )
