if its a stock engine, adding a k&n and an open lid should not make jetting changes necassary.

No jetting should be nessary, now if you added a pipe then yes.

on my 300ex i added a k&n and left the lid on and it ran like crap, popping and sputtering. i rejetted it and now it runs WAY better than it used to. i think from the factory it is borderline lean. i am also at sea level too tho

what if u had a e series slip on with a K&N would u have to jet then.

i would say yes, because it would increase flow with just a slip on and filter

Probably need a 150 or 152 Keihin main jet if it's a 400ex.

my wife has an e-series and she is running 8 discs(comes with 12 installed) and is running a 128 or 130 main with a k&n filter...that think woke that bike up! still aint anything near the 400 though

what would u have to do to leave all the dics in, in terms of jetting or could u leave the air box off and put a K&N on or what.

i run the e series (12 disks) with header, k&n filter and no lid with a 128 main jet. i have run this for a couple weeks now and it appears to still be on the lean side. i am probably going to a 130 to try it.
i will say that adding the exhaust made a HUGE improvement on a bike that i was dissapointed with

So if you put a K and N airfilter in a 250ex and left the lid on it would run like crap but if you took the lid off it would run much better?

I read i think on K and N's website that it said no rejetting is necessary.

And anyway I got one question though, is the K and N aifilter good for trail riding or is like a Twin Air airfilter better for trails?

between the paper filter and the foam....your not going to feel any differences between the two. Its all personal preferance;)
