the air fuel is in th middle of the floatbowl near the front of the carb. Its hard to get to you have to turn the carb to get to it plus the stock one has a d shaped head on it so you need a special tool to adjust it looks like the tool for the accelerater pump adjustment in the hrc kit might work. I put one of the after maket screws in it and makes it real easy to adjust and helped to richen it up

Quad Racer,

Once you installed the HRC kit - did that fix your problem with being too lean?

no. i went from a 42 pilot to a 48 and its alot crisper. but it still don't want to start with any throttle. makes me think i should try a 52. though the 48 helped alot. running wise

alot of people think that the starting issue is electical but i beleive its in the carb. took the plug out and i have fire when i hit the buttom with some throttle. makes me think to much air not enough fuel. am i wrong?

Actually the manual says to turn it IN a half turn. Maybe that's the problem???

YES it is the fcr carb I had a 03 crf450r with this carb, bike run like a champ, but if you went to start it with some gas it would not start very well. soon as you touch the throttle the excellerator pump, pumps fuel in the engine,if the engine is running it is the right mixture,if you are trying to start it it to much fuel, because the engine is not pulling in enough air to mix with it.

Just my to cents:) I have delt with this carb for 3 years.

Glad to hear the YFZ has starting problems when using the gas too. I really want the TRX but was leaning twoard the YFZ in fear of the starting problem with the 06 TRX.
