View Full Version : I just made my own atv stand!

06-16-2002, 02:31 PM
Total cost: about $20 bucks.

Just used a 5 gal bucket, screwed it down onto the board, then put wheels on the board that swivel so i can roll/turn my atv in any direction.
Plenty of ground clearance as well. Enjoy.

Not to mention, you can take the lid off and store all your cleaning supplies/tools in the stand, unlike most of the stands you buy usually just come with bars/wheels and no storage.

How do you get it on there?

well some of us use the force, but normal people pick it up

Indeed, to get it on, just lift up the front end and roll it forward as you are holding the front end in the air, to the center of the atv then sit it back down and it will balance on top of the bucket.

good thinking i think i might have to do that lol
i always stand mine on its back when i was the bottom of it, maybe u should make a nice looking one like all red painted with honda painted on it or something and see how much u get for it on ebay, just a thought?

i should try nailing a bucket to wood and wheels so i can sit on it and roll around my garage!

yea i made my own stand but i made it to tall!! It is so much of a pain to get up onto it. I think i am going to get some spare metal and see if i can make one with a jack. that way i dont have to lift the front end. Gotta ove summer so much free time.

I made mine with some scrap lumber, swivel casters and a milk crate. I have another (better) idea in the works.;)

my jack costs about $3500 new but i didn't pay a d*mn thing for it ... it's a pallet jack out of an old oil factory. it's bout 4 inches tall when it's all the way down and bout 3 feet long by 16" wide and you just drive the quad over top of it and there is two foot pedals and up and a down and it will raise the quad up to where you can work on it at eye level (wheels get 3 1/2 feet off the ground) it's hydraulically driven and will lift about 15000 lbs. jes thoguht i would throw out mine since everyone else was showing theres i'll try to get a picture

I made a set of castors for my old sled..........they were the same thing. blocks of wood with castors bolted to the bottom. I think they are still kicking around in my garage somewhere, but the sled is long gone.

I tried the plastic bucket trick too, but it only lasted a couple of weeks. The bucket gave out on me ~~ lets just say it hurt. So here's my new and improved stand. its made out of scrap wood and 4 (locking) casters, so far no complaints
