step 1. # of brothers you have
step 2. multiply by 2
step 3.add 3
step 4.mutiply by 5
step 5.add # of sisters you have
step 6.multiply by 10
step 7.add any single digit # except 0
step 8. subtract 150

the final # should be the a 3 digit # with 1st # being how many brothers you have.2nd should be the # of sisters you have and the 3rd should be the # you choose for step 7.

Does anyone know how/why this works?

Some people have a knack with numbers, they just sort of flow for them. I suppose they get bored too and like to play around sometimes. Plus without math, we would not have computers, cellphones, CD players, just about everything we use today.

It doesn't work if you have 12 sisters.

Cool Math Trick

1. Grab a calculator (You won't be able to do this one in your head)
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

That's pretty cool.

It's not cool, it's ridiculous.

Maybe it's just me, because I am a mathematical person. I just SEE patterns and numbers.

Do you know what I see when I look at that formula for your phone number? I see:

Type in the first three digits of your phone number.

Mutiply by 10,000

Add the last 4 digits.

Duh, of COURSE it's going to come out to be your phone number. Multiplying by 10,000 just shifts your first three digits over 4 places to make room for the last three digits. It turns 246 into 2460000
