Some questions about tire and rims combo??

i have like 3 or 4 questions about mx tires and duglas rims

1) Turf tamers which size is better for mx as of traction and sliding in to corner, the 9.5 or the 11's ??? Also how fast do the tamers wear a lot of people say they wear really fast and some don't

2) Are offset rims for the rear a good idea or not??? i am thinking about a lsr axle but the offset rims would be cheaper, are there any down sides of offset rims?

3) On the douglas rims i am looking at the .190 red labels with beadlock and inner ring, would this rim be worth it and put the tamers on there for mx???

Also does anyone know if the package from moto-world or motoman includes beadlock, it says .190 douglus rims with tamers for 170 $ combo, (i think) and that is for 2 tires and 2 rims...
has anyone done this deal do you think it is worth it???

1. The tamer 9.5's turn better and the 11's get better grip. The tamers wear pretty fast but not as fast as the holeshot MX's

Also i dont think that package has the beadlock wheels.

my turfs are wearing awesome but they are un grooved... if u groove them they wear way faster....


my 18x11x8 turfs on .190 rims with beadlocks and inner rings was 385$ to my door... my beadlocks are champion beadlocks with polished rings...


i will have pics of them on my quad tomorrow...

they handle awesome... much better then stock or 20 inch holshot xcs... they slide very good around turns and hook up awesome...

The 11s will roll under more then the 9.5s. You can grove them to curve this a little but groving really only helps in loose terrain. On hard pack tracks you will loose to much froma groved tire. Tamers are cheap I would get both. 9.5's uncut for hardpack. 11s cut for loose.

I'd go with the 11 inch over the 9.5 tamers....seen to many 9.5 tamers bust off the rim at races..and yes they were on beadlocks..seem to be too skinny and roll off the rim when hammerin down in corners.

You have seen 9.5's come unseated from beadlocks!!??!! I never heard of that but the only person I now that runs 9.5's weighs under 90 pounds, but he also runs +5 axle with offset wheels(which is too wide for my taste). What where they doin to do that? I tried the 9.5's and loved them but that is a major concern of mine cause I do it all the time with my sand tires. Last time I broke them down I had like 3 cups of water in one of my fronts.

the ultimate rims are .190,,which are the red labels and I think you'll be better off with the wider tires...I'd highly recommend getting with marcums on this purchase. I just bought 4 razr tires from Terry,,tires only not rims,,I won't say the price but he saved me around $90 total...:eek:

i just ordered all new tires form Rocky mounatin atv. i ordered the 18/11/8 turf tamers and the 19/6/10 holeshot fronts. all on Douglas aluminum .190's. they have really good prices. im still awaiting there arrival. 5 more days till they get here.
