i ride a 2001 400ex it is jetted had megamax pipe and k&n air filter...
I would like to know if a 10:1 wiseco piston would be a good buy and will i need to do any other mod to ride that piston? or ride higher octane gas??

no other mods are needed, premium pump gas would be all you'll need;)

you will see bigger gains from a cam.

ill may get better performance with a cam but i need to change the piston anyway so...

thx for your help!

For the same cost you can go to 11:1 or 10.8:1 and get better gains.
You will just be sitting right at the limit of running pump gas or a pump/race gas mix.

i would do an 11:1 piston with an good matching cam for overall gains and to still be fine with pump fuel

is there a big difference between the 11:1 and the 10:1???

Enough of a diff to use it. IMHO

I agree, no point in doing 10:1 really, the 11:1 will be reliable.

I agree with the 11:1, or 10.8:1 if you use a JE. You might as well do a cam while it's apart, because I can almost guarantee that you'll do it eventually. If you do something like a stage 1 or 2 hotcam, or an HRC cam if you can afford it, you'll see big gains throughout the powerband. A piston/cam combination is the biggest bang for the buck once you get a pipe and filter.
