rough ride

i recently bought a 99 400ex. I was wondering if the stock shocks wear out cuz the ride is pretty harsh. i was also wondering how 450r shocks would handle. i ride mostly trails and some jumps

a lot of ppl put the 450r shocks on there 400 and everyone has been very pleased. do a search there have been plenty of post about this and some of them have pics.

450R shocks are better but only slightly, plus they make the quad ride higher. It's my opinion that you money would be better spent on aftermarkets that fit your EX. Used and reconditioned aftermarket shocks, for the most part, turn out to be a great deal.

I have the 450r front shocks on mine and love them they greaty improve the handling of the 400ex ...They allow you to adjust your ride the way you like it ... Here is a pic of how they look on the 400ex
