OK, I have an issue with the steering on my z400. When sitting on the quad and with both hands on the grips I can turn the bars about 1-2 inches without the wheels moving. This is way too much play.

I have checked the stem, bearings, tie rods...and they all seem fine. Does anyone know what I should look at next? The steering on my ex is tight and clean...I have ridden Z's before and never had the issue.

Any help would be appriciated.

check the bushing on the clamp that holds your stem in place. might need a new one.

Have someone sit on the quad and move the handlebars while you look ove all the compnents of the sterring again. The main things I would check is the berring in the bottom of the stem, the tie rods for any bends, and the tie rod ends.

if your getting that much movement without the wheels moving, you should have no problem finding what is loose bent or generally jacked up:)

turned out the bushing was worn, I replaced it and it's 100% better now
