How much grease do you put on new bearing when replacing the carrier bearings? Do you just load it up? What kind of grease? Will Waterproof grease work, or should I just use petroleum?

You definately want to use a waterproof grease and grease it up as much as possible. You really can't use too much.

you cant put to much in one. if you do it starts oozzing out{wont hurt a thing and it takes a crapload to do that} USE WATERPROOF!

I use a very small flat head screw driver and pop the grease seal out... Be very careful not to bend it. Then pack it full of grease. Make sure that you do both sides. I use a blue high temp wheel bearing grease... Then pop the seals back in and put them in the carrier. The set I put in my friends 400ex had enough grease in it to grease a matchbox car.... We loaded it up and not a prob!

yea i agree with all of the above and if you have an aftermarket carrier with the grease insert on it i would do both pack it and then use a grease gun on it just to be safe use the grease gun untill grease starts coming out of the sides of the grease insert
