Alright I posted my argo 8x8 in the paper for $4700. I got about 50 phone calls (no joke) but no one wanted to come take a look at it. Anyone got a guess what its worth? Fully function, drives great, winch, bilge, electronic fuel pump, new bearings, new transmission, new battery, new starter.

I guess I am just trying to figure out why i had so many people interested in asking about it, but not interested in buying. Guess i must not be a good salesman or something.

I'd love to have one of those! They look like so much fun.

I have no idea what they cost. Look it up on eBay and see if anyone is selling one like that.

Yeah, I priced mine competitively, but at the lower end. There were 2 other argos that were in the paper the same week as mine, one for 5000 and one for 6900. The 5000 didnt have a winch though, so I still felt like mine was a better deal.

Also, they are about $13,000 new.

What year is it, and what year where the other 2?

That might be the problem, I dont know the year. I thought i knew it, but it turns out it was newer than i though. It has a 16hp tecumseh in it and i was told that means it was made in the late 80's. The other ones i do not know the year either but they had 18hp, which means early 90's.

That's alot of money for something with a tecumseh in it.

I guess I dont understand what that means, the engine runs flawlessly and has pretty good power for an 800 lb machine.

Tecumseh is close to the bottom line when it comes to small engines.

ok chuck, what company swears by tecumseh? John Deere.

mtd manufacturing, who makes MOST all outdoor equipment, for one, AND most all the junk they sell at sears!!!! which MOST engines are "briggs and stratton". what does that tell ya. this is going to turn out to be a ford/chevy thing i can see it, but thats my opinion...so for what its worth.

anyways, im not gonna argue i dont know enough about these engines, but this engine is 15 years old or older, and still runs great. Like i said, if tecumseh engines are horrible, i guess i just havnt noticed it yet.

What do you guys think this thing is worth. I dont ride it now that im back in college, all it is doing is taking up space in the garage.

have you had any bent axles with that?

derekhonda

no bent axles here.

They made two different sized axles in the 80's. When I purchased new bearings i had to know what size the axles were. Mine were 1 3/16" as compared to 1 1/16". I guess that extra 1/8" makes a world of difference.

Yes it floats, and actually it holds 6 people. I figured I had timed it right trying to sell right before hunting season. This thing could get you places no one else could get to. I figured it would have sold the first day.
