whats different between the motors on a 250x and a 300ex? if you dropped a 300ex motor on a 250x what would need to be changed? motor mounts? wiring? exaust?

You would need a 300ex wiring harness, CDI, battery and battery box. Other than that it should drop right in.

i thought the 300ex was just a stroked 250x, all you have to do isopen up the motor and switch cranks if that is the case

I haven't really dealt with a 250x one on one.. but I'd think a 300ex crank, rod, and piston combo would work in a 250x. Unless they changed somehting for no apparent reason to make the 2 incompatible.
But personally, I'd prefer the stroke of the 250x. I'm not a stroker style rider. I stay in the top 50% of the revs almost all the time and shift later as opposed to shifting early. I like a larger bore, shorter stroke motor. I really want an 06 R, lol.

You can't swap the cranks. The 300EX has a longer crank journal and a gear for the E-start.
