Almost made a huge mistake (YZF450)

Well I currently have a 2001 400ex with some mods done to it, real good bike but recently I have gotten the 450 fever. So after reading the magazines and forums I made a quick decision and head down to the yamaha dealer. Without test driving or anything I nearly purchased a 2006 yzf 450, I was pretty much one signature away, before something told me not to.

So I call up one of my friends which had ordered a yzf 450, and coincidently was receiving it today. So I decide to head down to his house and check it out before I made that decision. Well to make a long story short good thing I did not purchase the yzf450. I was so uncomftorble on the bike, im 6'3 bout 180lbs. It just doesnt suit me.

My suggestion is go with what is best for you. Dont let forums or magazines sway your decision.

So im definately gonna be test driving the 06 honda 450r. I think it will suit more to my body and riding style. Or I might just wait till the suzuki 450 comes out, but not quite sure yet. Ill keep you guys updated on what I do.

Thats how I feel on the yfz. It just doesnt feel "RIGHT" cant explain it.

Nothing a simple set of handlebars can't solve.

Funny, I feel that way on a stock Honda.

It isn't just the handlebars. The footpegs, seat, controls, handling all have an effect. I rode the older yfz and it felt way to small. I am 6 3''. I also didn't like the 450r it felt tall but after ridng it with the shocks adjusted for sag it was a lot better.

I dont like the yfzs at all, to much like a dritbike. The honda 450r just feels right, like for me, im 5' 10" and eveything just falls into place, i love it with cr hi bars and plus one stem its even better. With my suspnsion I think it handels like its on rails, more the what i can say for yfzs ive ridden.

I am 6' 1" and 185 lbs. The YFZ felt really ill suited to me also, the bars are like even with the really stiff seat.

I know they remedied most of this on the 2006, but my 04 Honda was fine from the factory, and it has a much softer seat.

I think that the 450R seat feels like sitting on a rock compared to my 400EX. What in the world does the YFZ feel like if its worse.
