Went to start cdale up today and boom. 911 took 15 mins to get there, it was electrical and they made it worse. 4wheeling is over me for now, until i get enough money saved over a few years to buy something decent. I cried guys call me a ***** you would too.

Guys get insurance on ur quads. That or end up like me, 3500 dollars in the ditch, 400 dollars speeding ticket on same morning. this was the worst day in my life period.

Dont ask me questions, look and answer them urself as u can imagin im pissed more than anytime ive ever been. Thanks. A lesson has been learned.

Electrical nothing. That may have STARTED it, but ordinary water can put out an electrical fire on a quad. There's not enough juice in the battery to cause additional problems when it gets wet.

However, as soon as it hits the gas tank, it becomes a chemical fire, which is an entirely different story.

Sorry to hear it, man. Is your next quad going to be a kick-start?

dude the fire really didnt damage that much...the plastic shyt and stuff thats really expected to be destroyed in a fire...apparently the fire didnt get too hot becuase i didnt melt the aluminum.

i know money is hard to come by...but i would rebuild you still got alot of stuff there to build off of....the frame and swinger, a-arms, rear tires, and maybe the shocks are all ok...idk about the motor and what it tore up in there...

but i believe it could all be replaced if you wanted to do so...if not...part out what you can on there....cut your losses, save up some more money and buy another quad...sure easier said then done..

Just because it didn't melt it doesn't meant it is still good. I wouldn't rebeuild it I would just cut my losses and get another quad when you get the money

you guys know that if you cryo sumthing that has gotten hot it will give back all of its orginal strength plus sum right? not to mention getting a frame cryoed is dirt cheep. i would rebuild it, i bet u could do it cheeper then u think.

Naw, it's just fine. I'd certainly trust a 80ft triple to an aluminum frame that has been burned and may or may not have been weakened, wouldn't you?

witech

Ill bet you will cry for giving it up for cheap. With a little effort and TLC its back running.

02-03-2006, 07:07 PM
is that the same four wheeler!?>!??!?! man u better be careful on that aluminum frame that was heated up :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: theres no way i WOULD jump that thing but whatever floats your boat

You guys do know that Aluminum Frames are heattreated to begin with right? That extra heat didnt hurt anymore than the heat from Powdercoating.

Mxjunkie

Not neccessarily, they are heat treated, but in a specific way, they are heated then cooled in a very specific way. So just because its heated, and cooled doesn't mean its "Re heat treated"

When powdercoating the frames, your supposed to bake it at 325(i believe) instead of the normal 450, because of the chance of tampering with the heat treating

I wouldn't trust the frame for any thing other then a Dune bike

He did a good job on restoring it, actually i dont regret selling it at all, its the reason i have a brand new race YFZ now..Wouldnt have it any other way, was just a thing of the past.

i was just gonna console you on the loss of the quad, then i see its restored.

I'm glad you got a new quad. Looks like it ended up ok.

And the dude did a good job restoring it. Looks like he did a great job. I really dont think the aluminum would weakened all that much.
