ok , my dad has given me a choice of two cars which we can by . The first choice is a 2000 navy blue corvette stock , the second choice is a 2003 black 350z with duel full system exhaust , air intake , and a few other things . The corvette is an automatic , and the 350 a manual.
i love both the cars :(
this is the hardest thing ive ever had to choose , what would all of you go with ?

if the vette was stick that would be simple. but if i were u id get a camaro ss or a trans am ws6 02. same engine as a vette plus 2 extra seats. is it between the cars or the money u have? find a manual vette

i would say the vette only because i hate the chrome door handles on the z, hahaha
but seriously, its a hard choice
the vette is pure awsome, cause its american muscle, but its just an auto... and whats the point of owning an expensive sports car if its auto
and the 350z is also very powerful and good looking, and it has that awsome turbo!, but i dont really like japanese sports cars
dunno, its up to you, it would take me a long time to decide, i know that!

hehe, sorry, i thought the z had a turbo, im not as up to date as i used to be on my cars, it would still be a hard choice for me
if hes paying insurance then the corvette...if you have to pay it then the 350z

Im not sure, but arnt the 350z faster then the vett in 1/4th mile? All i really can remember is the 350z are a fast car, and all wheel drive possibly ? i cant remember... ill go check it out, cause i remember u can get them awd or something like that.
You'll enjoy the 350z more then a vett. Imo

Z is NOT turbo...NOT AWD...(it is RWD) ...it is NOT faster than the vette in the 1/4 although the vette isnt THAT much faster...considering it is an auto compared to the Z being manual
drive them both and see which you like and go from there...you will get too many mixed opinions asking here
i have driven both (auto and manual versions of both cars) and I like the manual Z the most...just my opinion however

vette, vette, vette, vette, vette. 350z's are nice don't get my wrong i have ridden many times in my neighbors. but come on, the vette has a v-8. in the long run it has tons of potential in my opinion. who cares if its an auto, just drive it like a stick.

C5 hands down. As far as 1/4 mile autos are easier to make faster anyway. And the 350z prob doesnt get much better gas mileage. It prob does a little cuz autos are worse on gas but LS1 f-bodies can get 27 mpg on the highway easy if youre not beating on it. C5 is the same engine in a lighter car. If all youre gunna do is beat on it both cars will suck on gas.

I'd get the corvette!
LMAO... I cant believe the people who say 350Z then give their reason. The 350Z is not that fast or handle that well, when talking about the C5.
The C5 will hand the 350Z its arse in every respect to performance plus get decent gas mileage.
You can always pick out the guys that just watch fast and the furious without actually knowing anything....LMAO!

the ballance on the z is so good in stock trim just talk to some of those SCCA guys (but then again they can buy a neon and add suspention and out handle both!)

Tough call really. First of all the 350Z is NA, no turbo charger. C5's are nice but with the C6's out, the prices and therefore the value is dropping pretty quick. The 350Z is a pig too. I dont know the exact weight but they are pretty heavy say compared to the new RX8's. No, I am not a fan of RX8's either though.
Think outside the box and look for a Mustang Cobra in the same price range. 390 HP! Maybe a low miles, mint condition RX7, like a 93 to 95. Good luck though.

I don't know why all you guys are knocking automatics. Yes, manual transmissions are more fun to drive and more "sporty" but a well-built automatic coupled to a nice torque converter will smoke a manual in the same car anyday. I'm talking throw you back in the seat, instantaneous shifts, not to mention a more precise launch.
I say take the Vette, mostly because it's a V8 and has LOTS of potential to be a powerhouse. Dollar for dollar, the V8 will respond more to bolt on mods than that sixer in the 350 will. Not to mention I would rather hear the expiration of a healthy V8 exhaust note than some ricey bumble bee exhaust :o
Also, both vehicles have similar curb weights of around 3200 lbs. The Vette is pushing 350HP at the crank and the Z is pushing around 280. The Vette is obviously going to have a higher power to weight ratio and thus will have a better "fun factor" :cool:

I've never driven a vette, but I love my moms 350z. I'd take one over anything besides my truck. Badass V6 with tons of potential, styling like none other, and handles like a dream. Plus its newer

Don't get hung on on a stick, i'm tellin ya. Think about all those times where you might have your hands full or sitting in traffic where you'll wish you would have gotten the auto.
A shift kit makes a WORLD of difference and a higher stall torque converter makes an even bigger one. The computer is capable of making the tranny shift much faster than your left foot and right hand can ;)

Dude just take the time to find a manual vette. Just do some searching for a week or two and you will fine one. Don't be in a rush and buy a auto vette. Take my advice and just look a little harder, you will find another one for the same price. Trust me. Don't be a retart and be in a rush.

YAh i forgott a zero, me and my dad were thinking about offering them 20000 for it and going from there ? does this sound like a good deal ? I will take some pics of it and post them tomorow . I have been thinking to myself why spend 100 dollars less on a 350z when for 100 dollars more i could have a CORVETTE? lol

def the corvette...its a freakin muscle car, and its faster,and we have one, its a 99 convertible and its an auto, i dnt understand why it has to be manul, its not the end of teh world to have an auto transmission, and the gas mileage on corvettes isnt bad at all, its acutally really good

its my first car , but techncally its not ALL mine , it will be my fathers and mine . BELEIVE ME , i would never **** around in a vette , ive been a car freek since i was little , then quads have recently taken over but im starting to get back into cars bigTIME and i would kill for this car , and it just so happens my dad has always wanted a vette , so we are both gonna pay payments on it till its payd off then its all mine . ( we have 3 0ther NEWER SUV's that i will be driving alot more than the vette if we get it )

Girls go for corvettes ;) ;) :D . Personally I hate ricers, and the vette is my favorite car..... so its not really a hard choice. I wish i could afford a vette, the nicest car I could even come close to being able to afford is a Mustang GT. Those are decently fast too, but nothin compared to chevy!! I might have to look into Camaro's too, but Mustangs look a lot better, even though the camaro has a better motor. Either way, if you get the vette, i'll come over and we'll show all those little ricers that drive around butler and annoy us what's up!!!!!

Umm you guys dont know what ure talking about. We own a 2003 Vette z06 ( the higher hp model 405hp ). and we get 22mpg dicking around and driving in town some, around 26mpg on highway, not bad at all for the performance.

My dad learned how to drive in a 1976 mustang cobra 2. RWD is the way to go. AWD and FWD is for pu$$ies. 4x4, now that is a different story.

Dude get the vette. I just got a C5 vette the other day. Yes its a auto and yes i wanted a manual but but this one came up. For some reason alot of people think anything with a auto is junk, but the corvette isnt like most cars, it has plenty of power for an auto. Also ur going to turn alot more head in a vette than a 350z. If you get the vette with the preformance axle it isnt a whole lot slower than a manual also if your not experiance with a stick u will be faster in a auto anyway.

It has nothing to do with being slower. hell if u have a performance auto transmission you cant beat a computer shifting, yet a manual is just so much more fun slamming gears and other things. Thats a C5 not a C6, only has non-flip headlights , tell by the body curves and other things its a C5.
Get a Subuaru STI, it will kick the crap out of the Vette and the 350Z!!

I have driven a 2004 vette before and it was an auto (because the guy who owned it got one of his arms blown off in iraq...really sad story) Trust me, the car has plenty of power for an auto. You dont need a manual...ESPECIALLY with it being your first car. I got in enough trouble with my 2001 Tundra when i was 16...I dont even want to know what I would have done with a Vette....:eek:
oh yah kyle_tqra- subaru stis ROCK! Id love to own one of those little cars. :D the vette and the sti are the only cars that id really want to drive. other than that, give me a truck :scary:

the FASTEST STI i have seen drag at the speedway couldnt beat an average running vett...not to mention the new Z06'S running 11 seconds flat stock all day long....STI'S are over rated....i'd rather have an EVO and when it comes to rice i wouldnt own eaither:p only v8's in my house

Both Evo and Sti are NOT even close, unless heavily modified, to a drag car so comparing them to cars on a drag strip is like comparing a baseball to a car. Although the Z06 handles good the Sti/Evo would own it on the road course with comparable drivers.

Iam sure the WRX STI's are great cars, I would love to hard one as an everyday driver.
But what everyone really cares about is raw horsepower, and althought the STI might beat the Vette on a road course, (althought I think the new zo6 will smoke a STI on a road course). Because GM has been making great strives on getting the Corvette to be a better right and left turner car. No one cares about how good a car is on a road course. They car about one, and one thing only... DISPLACEMENT!
So I was just correcting the gentlemen who said the STI would smoke both the Vette and the 350Z
because the STI is half the car a Vette is.

Yea its half the car for half the price. If you are looking for power the amount you pay for a Z06 you could make the Sti/evo faster then a vette would ever be and still have money left over.

I'd take a good old chevy over some piece of forign crap anyday. You can't beat a corvette, the looks, the power, and most importantly, the reputation it has! And as far as picking up chicks, I dont know of any girl that would hop into some 4 door jap crap over hopping into a Corvette. The vette is the last true American muscle car. Every other older muscle car has had a v-6 put in it standard by now, except for vette, its a V-8, just like its always been (except for the first 3 years they made it when it was a v-6, but after those first 3 its been all 8 cylinders).

Yea, but no matter how much you rice it up, it will always be a little 4 cylinder and it will always be a ricer.
If someone offered me a new zo6 or a STI and the money left over to even the cost of the zo6 for after market parts. I would take the zo6.
No matter how many mods you do to a ricer one thing stays the same, they will always be 4 bangers and will always be ricers.
Look, iam not knocking the STI looks like a very nice car, and like you said it is half the price of a new zo6 and most vettes. But the reason i posted in this thread to start with was because someone said get the STI instead of the vette and 350z. And to get an STI over a vette is idiotic.

Jesus , we looked at one and they recommend not to TOW, ITS A FRIGGIN TRUCK its built to tow stuff. Come up here and ill gladly hand ure *** to you with ure over price pos viper truck. And about the STI out handling the vette, its not happing , vettes are one of the best handling cars built. A C5 Z06 posted faster lap times around the neuenburg test track than a viper and its 100hp less, and the new C6 Z06 with only 505hp posted the 2ND FASTEST LAP TIME EVER BY A PRODCTION CAR. that impressive againest all the foriegns, and for under $70k its a steal.

As for towing........... I use my H2 or my Excursion or my F-350 or my Chevy 4500 or my F-750.

This is a stupied arguement.... yes for the money the WRX is a good buy, but if your in the market for a 350z or a corvette the kid is not going to want a WRX, it is in a totally different market.

No problems with my SRT-10 Matt. Dodges have a bad rep with their auto trannys, but the SRT-10 has a 6 speed. As for the Jeep, it will be an SRT-8 most likely powered by the same 6.1 hemi in the SRT-8 magnums, SRT-8 chargers, and SRT-8 C300's.

as for the subaru vs vette discussion, I agree, apples & oranges. The original post asked vette or 350Z. My answer, if its a 350Z track version, get the Z. I say this because their are less of them on the road and the car is a little more unique. I hate owning vehicles that everyone else owns. Besides that...........the 02 vettes didn't appeal to me. Now, an 05 vette would be a harder choice.

My brother is a huge Chrysler fan. He loves the SRT-10 trucks.
He recently purchased an 01 GTS, fast car! but I can not say it is the most reliable.
Iam not a big Viper fan, on a hot summer day his Viper is running 210 water temp! Thats higher than my 67 BB vette runs, and they were always known for over heating.

The corvette is a nice vehicle....but it will break down and fall apart about a decade before the Z.
Whoever thinks the Z is a slow car doesn't know much about cars. A base model STOCK Z cruises to 60 in 5.5 secs.
I have owned the Z and my only complaint was that road deviations were felt easily. But, the vette is the same way.
Also the Z is very ergonomic and comfortable.

man i wish my dad would gimmie a choice like that. your lucky. my dad won't even let me get the mustang i want and im paying for it (i need him to co-sign on the loan cuz i have no credit). id get the 350z if i weere you. corvettes are kinda cool but their not all their cracked up to be. 350z's are just plain awesome. ive ridden in plenty of vettes and one of my best friends has a 350z and id def take the 350z over a vette. youd prob get more girls in the vette tho.
