A bunch of us are driving from wisconsin to glamis the week before thanksgiving, and staying that week, and the week of thanksgiving. We have a crew cab truck, and a healty trailer with lots of extra room. If anybody want's to ride along, or maybe we can pick you up on the way we would be interested in trying to work something out to try and keep the diesel cost down. Get ahold of me here or email me personally at rpaulsen1@new.rr.com

I'm not trying to be a stickler, but Glamis is not Ogilby. It's in the general area, but thats like calling Gordans Glamis, its close but not the same. So in the original post when he said he was going to Glamis, he isnt.

Its an easy ride on a bike...Its ALL the Imperial Sand Dunes.

We usually camp at Olgibly also, its more mellow then the other places. Look for a full aftermarket MX 450R red and black #469, and a Lonestar Hyrbid, blue and white, on Thanksgiving weekend..We are goin to Glamis Halloween if anyone else is going.

We are leaving on Thursday night or friday morning the 11th or 12th and as far as the guy saying ogilby is not glamis that all depends what kind of riding you do we are not affraid to head in that direction because we will be there riding several times that week after camping at glamis the first year i went 6 years ago i was minding my own bussiness when two sites down some dude looked at his ugly girlfriend and did bot like it and pulled a gun and fired a few shots and the next thing i know is several other campers came over and beat the crap out of the guy took his gun thank god and beat him like he probably got beat before he was taken to the hospital and then went to jail. The campsite on the other side of mine quad got stolen the same night that when i decided to camp at ogilby great friendly people and not all drunk idiots.
I ride a houser crf 450 with red fullbore plastic with fox shix and a trx450r and my daughter rides a trx400ex with long travel suspension hope to see you all there...............Chris

its a retarded long drive. on the way to glamis, we stop at little sahara and ride for a day or two. then we drive the rest of the way to glamis. I guess on the way back it takes something like 30 hours or there abouts to get back

It doesn't depend on anything, its just not.;) You should of started the thread with "I'm going to Ogilby", I know people won't recognize it as much if you say Glamis, but at least your not wrong :)

we are camping at ogilby road, and we will be riding everywhere. and as long as we are all riding, and doing what we all love to do, what's the difference??

i didnt think anything of it... i imagine hardly anybody that hasnt been there has heard of gordons well or buttercup or ogilby, but most duners have heard of glamis... i see why you did it... from i understand youre gunna camp on ogliby right off the 8 right? thats actually closest to gordons well, but... i was actually at glamis this past weekend and that was fun, and i might go to buttercup this weekend, and im definately going to gordons well halloween weekend...

in my opinion a man who drives from the other side of the country to go to Glamis should be held in the highest respect and should not be questioned... im seriously impressed and have a great admiration for your love of the dunes- i share in it...

i repeat- any man who drives from wisonsin to glamis should be held only in the highest regard. I feel like Christ with the Centurion - never have i seen such great faith, no, not in all of israel :) and putting together the facts that this man has such dedication and love for the dunes, as does his daughter, makes me think they would make an awesome father-in-law/wife combo :) i just happen to be single :D

Heading out to Glamis Thanksgiving weekend as well. Will be a first time for me and I just bought a TRX450r so have to break it in before then. I believe the plan is to camp off of Gecko Road(?), how crazy does this place get? Looking at Google Earth it looks as if quite a few people go there. Can you camp anywhere or are there established sites? Is there cell signal down there around the campsite? We may have family joining us and would like to have contact with them if possible. Appreciate all the help from the veterans here.

VERY CRAZY!!!! There are designated sights. You just pick a wash and then set up camp. I was just there this Halloween Weekend and it was awsome. Tons of people. Its like nothing you have ever seen. Go to oldmobile at night. Have fun BE SAFE WATCH WHERE YOU ARE RIDEING.

no, he said he is parking at gecko, not in the washes... my experience is that gecko is a little more chiled, and you dont have the idiots doing 90mph so close to your truck like you do in the washes... at gecko you park right off the road... they have numbers on the ground on the road going into and they call them pad 1,2,3 etc... or you can just look at your trip and tell your fam like that... my cell works great over by gecko but is hit and miss at the washes... yah glamis can be pretty crazy- a lot of stupid people. i prefer gordons well myself... are you guys going with anybody who has gone before?

Thanks for the info, fellas. Will be out there with some folks that have been there a couple of times. Looks like now work is giving me a hard time about getting Friday off so may only have a 2 day event. Makes it worse that everyone out here is good with it but the office back East is kinking the plan. :grr:

How sensative are they to noise control and spark arrestors in Glamis? Reason I ask is my White Brother Aluminum Pro I just arrived and I was going to sell it but may just save it for those middle of nowhere runs, such as the dunes. Too damn nice to part with so easily.

We will be making a trip to Glamis over Thanksgiving weekend as well. This will be the 5th yearin a row going on Thanksgiving weekend and I wouldn't miss it. Usually we camp about 1/2 of a mile before the vendors. Stop by and have a beer if you see the camp.

Nothing real major except a bent steering stem bearing carrier broken motor mounts and a rear sprocket thank god i bring half the honda shop with me not bad for six quads ..Chris
