Has anyone revalved and rebuilt the front shocks on their 400ex? I would like to get new ones but the cash thing? It's alittle tight. If I go new, what's the best bang for the buck? If I ride it like everything else, they will get pretty abused. Advise, please.:ermm:

the stock front shocks are not rebuildable on a 400ex. best depends on price. i say if you dont race, get elka rec. series. about $385 for a pair and work awesome. Works shocks are cheaper, but for a reason. i run works cause i got a good deal, and they are much better than stock, but elka would be my choice for new.

search ebay and the parts for sale section on this site. If moneys a big issue you can get R shocks and then later get derisi to redo them for your weight and riding. I got mine for 200 and it's a HUGE improvement, and I'm planning on having derisi redo them around christmas.

I bought a completely beat up, and worn out pair of AT steelers w/ressie's off ebay for pretty cheap, $186. Then sent them off to Works for a complete rebuild. When I got them back the, the only original things left on the shocks were the bottom blue spring and the outer ressie canisters. All for $177 shipped back to me in 3 weeks. And I love 'em... what a diff. This was such a great deal!
