I bought the Holeshot XCT 22" rears for my bike. I like them alot. I got them because where I go riding I need the extra ground clearance because of rocks and bushes. I had them on my 400ex and now on my yfz 450. They hold up awesome and that little lip by the bead of the tire protects the rim really well. I have a couple hundred miles on them and they are showing very little wear as well. Hopefully this helps on your decision.

I ru 22's on my EX & thats all Im gonna run from now on clearance is much improved in the middle where you need it it wiil raise the rear end a little so it wiil change the handling just a touch ,when my fronts wear out I will get taller fronts to balance her out a bit & they will rub the front of the fender a tiny bit when you bottom it out nothing major or alarming though.

I took pics. of mine earlier today to show you but I wasnt able to send them something about too many bites!

How are they in mud? Not like 5 foot deep stuff, but you know what I mean.

But I have 22''s and wouldn't have it any other way. my swingarm skidplate still hits things now and then.

here is a question I forgot to ask does it change the gearing
can you tell if th 20's perform better than the 22's or what

and thanks for the input guys

with my 22s stock gearing with no mods at that time was too much it stole a lot of my low end & the engine couldnt push the stock gearing flatout to a nice top speed so I got 13 tooth monster torque great on trails & in the woods but too slow now I run a 14 tooth stage 2 jet kit K&n filter usually no lid & no spark arrestor & its much improved I have torque & top speed (high comp. 440 ) on the way but just let the stock EX breathe a little bit & find the right sprocket for you & you should be happy with it.

do you think I should get a 13 and 12 tooth sprocket so I could have one for wide open tracks medium and really tight ones

Im not sure theres a 12 tooth front sprocket out there (never heard of one) buy you can get a 13 & a 39 or a 38 in the rear thats a lot of gear though if youre just running the 20's out back that motors gonna scream if speed is an issue but it should pull like a truck ! with those kind of gears & revs heat will be an issue Ide get air scoops larger oil tank & cooler.

I was just wondering what gearing I would need for the 22" tires I don't want it to go any faster do you know what size sprockets I should get

14 tooth front, stock rear and you will be impressed its perfect

I think 22" rear tires are homosexual.

I run 20" razzar 2 rears with no swing arm skid for cleerance issues.

I have ran a 16 front sprocket which was nice with my stock swing arm, kep thoes wheeles doun. but I swaped back to the 15 so I can still pull the front up with the new +1.25 swinger.

if you run arond in the sand all day I guess you might not need a skidplate but in the real world ,ruts logs & every other crap you can imagine I need a plate it also keeps the chain a little cleaner so its not coated in crap as quickly not to mention the rotor wouldnt like the log crossings either so the 22''s stay !

Yeah for me 22" rears and then 23" fronts will be the only way I will go from now on. I ride alot of desert and rocky terrain. I HAVE to run a rear skid plate or my rear rotor would be trashed the first ride out. I didnt really notice any power problems when I had the 22's on my 400ex. I did use a 14 tooth rear sprocket though. The XCT's have great hookup and will be the only tire I buy from now on.

alright guys I think ya'll have convinced me I just don't know which ones to get

22-11-8 rear Kenda klaw xc mounted on 8 inch 190. douglas red labelwheels with chrome valve stems and pj tire sealant = $167.00

22-11-9 rear Maxxis razr 2's mounted on 9 inch 190. douglas red label wheels with chrome valve stems and pj tire sealant = $253.00

I know the kendas are cheaper but are the maxxis that much better than the kendas as far as wear and tear and performance in xc racing

10-11-2005, 03:10 PM
I have some razzar 2's and I love them, they have held up verry excelent compared to my last tires. they wernt kenda's but they where holeshots and I ate threw them in a cupple months.

I would say spend the extra on the razzar 2's because they are more expenseve for a reason. also I dono how well thoes wheels will hold up for you. I havent had thoes spacific ones, but stock wheels are verry strong with that rolled edge that they have.

i own xcrs and xcts i like the xcts the extra clearence is nice to have but if your getting 22s spend the money and get razor2s, my friend goes through alot with 20s i think the 22 would be even better
